Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) was founded in 1964 as the Royal University of Agronomy Science (RUAS). In 1994, RUAS developed into the Royal University of Agriculture and in 1999 it became the first public administrative institution in Cambodia. In 2002, RUA started to offer Master’s program in agriculture and related fields and in 2006, established doctoral programs. RUA’s mission is to contribute to the development of agriculture and related sectors and to the sustainable use of natural resources by providing higher-education programs, research and extension in line with national and international development issue and job market needs. The Faculty of Agricultural Engineering was established with the first name called Department of Agricultural Mechanization on April 1st, 1985 under the support from the former Soviet Union as the fifth department of Institute of Agricultural Technique Chamkar Daung. By 1996 the department was renamed to Faculty of Agricultural Engineering as the institute was promoted and renamed to Royal University of Agriculture. In 2000, the faculty was renamed to Faculty of Agricultural Technology and Management with its new curriculum focused on farm management and agricultural environment to meet the need of labor market at that time. As the economy continues to grow, Cambodia encounters labor shortage in Agriculture since labor force has moved to work in industry and service sectors; and there is a need to intensify agricultural production. More machinery is being use in agricultural production. To cope with this change, the faculty was renamed again to Faculty of Agricultural Engineering which composes of three departments: Soil and Water Engineering, Agricultural Machinery, and Agricultural Energy and Environment.
