Principal, Bridge of Hope Academy

Duty Location: Poipet, Cambodia
Bridge of Hope Academy is seeking a Principal who can lead with clarity, structure, and care for both people and performance. The Principal will oversee academics, operations, and staff development to ensure the school runs with excellence, accountability, and purpose.
This role requires a leader who can think strategically and act practically — someone who can guide teachers, build systems, and work well with multiple stakeholders. The Principal will collaborate closely with the Freedom’s Promise Program Director for the sponsorship program and with the Executive Committee to align BHA’s educational impact with the broader campus mission.
The ideal candidate has proven leadership experience in education, a track record of delivering results through teamwork, and a genuine desire to develop people and strengthen the community.
- Strategic and Academic Leadership
- Lead the school’s overall vision and academic direction in alignment with BHA’s mission and long-term goals
- Oversee curriculum design, lesson planning, and assessment to ensure consistent academic growth
- Lead monthly technical and professional training sessions for teachers and staff
- Monitor school performance, identify challenges, and implement improvement plans
- Ensure compliance with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education standards and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with the Program Director for the FP sponsorship program
- Present academic and operational updates to the Executive Committee and contribute to strategic planning discussions
- Team Leadership and Development
- Build a professional culture rooted in teamwork, accountability, and care
- Mentor and support teachers through coaching, classroom observation, and feedback
- Lead regular staff meetings and strengthen communication between departments
- Oversee staff recruitment, orientation, and performance evaluations in collaboration with the National Office
- Foster a positive working environment that promotes trust, professional growth, and alignment with school values
- Operations and Administration
- Supervise daily operations to ensure smooth coordination between academic and administrative functions
- Work with the School Accountant on budgets, reports, and financial oversight
- Ensure the school campus is safe, clean, and conducive to learning
- Oversee school events, assemblies, and extracurricular programs
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation for audits and reporting
- Develop and update policies and standard procedures in consultation with leadership
- Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, local government officials, and community partners
- Represent BHA in meetings with education authorities, FP leadership, and donor partners
- Work closely with the Program Director to ensure accurate communication and reporting for child sponsorship activities
- Collaborate with the Executive Committee on key decisions affecting staff, students, and community outreach
- Support marketing, student enrollment, and public relations to promote the school’s reputation in Poipet
- Khmer - Fluent
- English - Fluent
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
- Master's Degree is preferred
- Experience in school leadership or management for 5 years as a minimum
- Teaching background and experience in staff development preferred
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with ability to balance multiple priorities
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and partner organizations
- Strong understanding of budgeting, operations, and compliance within the education sector
- Effective communicator in both Khmer and English (spoken and written)
- Approachable, decisive, and dependable in leading teams
- Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and genuine care for students and staff
