Primary Chinese Language Teacher

Position Summary

Report to: Head of Primary

Schedule: Monday to Friday (7:30AM to 3:30PM)

National: Native Chinese Speakers

Expected starting date: 01 August 2023

Temporary cover for one semester only

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Ensure the effective teaching and management of classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained and the best use is made of teaching time.
  • Teachers may be expected to instruct in more than one subject.
  • Use teaching methods which will engage students and stimulate pupils’ intellectual curiosity including the use of effective questioning, clear presentation and good use of resources
  • Set high expectations for pupils’ behavior, establishing, and maintaining a good standard of behavior management through well focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships in accordance with the rules and behavior policy of the school.
  • Teach allocated pupils by planning their teaching to achieve progression of learning through:
  • planning engaging lessons which are designed to meet the assigned curriculum
  • understanding and applying effective classroom management.
  • understanding and applying a range of teaching strategies.
  • positively targeting and supporting individual learning needs.
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, and attainment of the students in their class
  • Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students
  • Use performance data to evaluate pupils' progress and set appropriate targets for improvement.
  • Use assessment to inform planning and teaching.
  • Report on progress to all stakeholders.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Able to create a classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, you will have a university degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers.
  • A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will also enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement, and personal investment within the classroom. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Cambodia.
