Ponlok Chomnes Communication Intern
Internship Objectives
The Asia Foundation Cambodia is seeking a Communication Intern to support the Ponlok Chomnes Program Team in managing digital platforms, developing and distributing content across the program’s online channels, designing communication materials, and supporting videography and photography. The intern will also assist in implementing the dissemination plan, tracking and reporting online engagement, and providing communication support for events and other program activities.

- Vacation leave: 1.25 days per month or 7.5 days in total of length of the internship
- Unpaid leave will be applied: If the intern has not accumulated enough leave, her/his stipend will be deducted based on the hours spent on unpaid leave.
- Stipend Allowance: USD 300 for a monthly stipend (for full-time)
Commitment and Working Hours
This is a 6-month full-time internship, with the possibility of extension up to 3 months. You will be expected to be present five days weekly (Monday to Friday). [Full-time, 37.5 hours per week]
Travel
The internship will be based in the Phnom Penh office. All travel costs associated with any assignment to the provinces will be paid by The Asia Foundation.
- The Communication Intern will assist the Ponlok Chomnes team to:
- Manage digital platforms and content – Develop and distribute content in Khmer and English on the website, social media (Facebook, X, LinkedIn), and Mailchimp; monitor and update mailing lists; review online platforms regularly; and coordinate with the website developer to resolve technical issues.
- Implement dissemination plan – Create and post content in line with the program’s communication calendar.
- Design communication materials – Produce digital posters, newsletters, infographics, and event backdrops; ensure designs follow branding guidelines; and adapt materials for web, social media, and print.
- Support videography and photography – Film and photograph events/social media campaigns; manage lighting and sound; edit videos and photos for communication use; and maintain a well-organised media archive.
- Analyse and report – Track online engagement, compile lessons learned and produce monthly performance reports.
- Assist with public events – Organise logistics, manage video activities, provide on-site communication support, and assist the Program Communications team as needed.
- The intern should meet the following criteria:
- Fourth-year university student or recent graduate in media, communication, graphic design, information management, computer science, or related fields.
- Strong interest in communication, media, and development work, with eagerness to learn and apply communication strategies.
- Basic skills in photography, videography, and video editing, with a desire to improve professionally.
- Proficient with MS Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Canva, or other design and video editing tools.
- Creative, innovative, and able to produce engaging content across multiple platforms.
- Understanding of local and regional policies and development issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural team.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and manage competing priorities.
- Good command of English and Khmer, written and spoken.
