True Care Wellness Clinic is seeking a competent, compassionate and clinically confident Pediatrician to join our pediatric-focused clinic on either a full-time or part-time basis.
The Pediatrician will provide comprehensive pediatric care across the clinic's outpatient, inpatient and emergency services. The doctor will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, stabilization, referral and follow-up of pediatric patients according to the clinical capabilities of the facility.
The Pediatrician will report directly to the Clinic Manager/Owner and will work closely with the nursing team. As several nurses are still junior, the Pediatrician is expected to take an active role in clinical supervision, teaching, mentoring and competency development of the nursing team.
Reporting & Clinical Accountability
The Pediatrician reports directly to the Clinic Manager/Owner and works closely with the Senior Nurse and nursing team. The doctor is responsible for safe pediatric care across outpatient, inpatient and emergency services and must promptly communicate significant clinical issues, referrals, transfers, safety concerns and training needs.
Working Arrangement
The position may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis according to an agreed clinical schedule and clinic requirements. Working hours, remuneration, leave and other employment terms will be agreed separately with the successful candidate.
- Pediatric Outpatient Care
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric consultations, history taking and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic pediatric conditions within the clinic's capabilities.
- Assess fever, respiratory, gastrointestinal, infectious, allergic, dehydration and other pediatric presentations.
- Order and interpret appropriate investigations, including POCT blood tests and rapid diagnostic tests.
- Use ultrasound appropriately when clinically indicated and review relevant reports/findings.
- Prescribe safe, appropriate pediatric medication, including weight-based dosing, allergies, contraindications and interactions.
- Explain diagnosis, medication, treatment plan, expected course, warning signs and follow-up to parents/guardians.
- Arrange follow-up, specialist review or hospital referral when required.
- Emergency Room – 2-Bedded Emergency Unit
- Emergency Assessment
- Provide prompt assessment and triage of children presenting with acute or potentially life-threatening conditions.
- Assess airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, vital signs and overall clinical stability.
- Recognize pediatric deterioration and determine the level of urgency.
- Obtain focused history and examination and decide whether the patient can be safely managed in the clinic.
- Emergency Stabilization & Treatment
- Initiate emergency treatment and stabilization within the clinic's capabilities.
- Manage common pediatric emergencies including respiratory distress, dehydration, seizures, allergic reactions, fever-related emergencies and acute deterioration.
- Initiate oxygen, IV access, fluids, emergency medications and other supportive measures when clinically indicated.
- Provide clear instructions to nurses regarding emergency interventions, monitoring and escalation.
- Reassess response to treatment and modify management as clinically required.
- Emergency Observation, Referral & Transfer
- Monitor patients requiring short-term observation in the Emergency Room and determine appropriate observation frequency.
- Decide whether a patient should be discharged, admitted to the inpatient area, remain under observation or be transferred.
- Recognize cases requiring hospital-level care and arrange timely referral/transfer.
- Communicate with the receiving hospital/team and provide complete clinical handover.
- Ensure appropriate stabilization before transfer where possible and document treatment, medications, investigations and clinical status.
- Notify the Clinic Manager/Owner of significant emergencies and hospital transfers.
- Inpatient Care
- Assess patients requiring admission and establish an appropriate treatment and monitoring plan.
- Give clear nursing instructions regarding medications, fluids, observations, investigations and other care.
- Review admitted patients according to clinical condition and modify treatment when required.
- Recognize deterioration and determine when escalation or hospital transfer is necessary.
- Communicate the child's progress and treatment plan clearly to parents/guardians.
- Determine readiness for discharge and provide appropriate medication, instructions and follow-up.
- Complete accurate admission, progress, treatment and discharge documentation.
- Nursing Supervision, Training & Mentorship
- Provide regular clinical teaching and bedside guidance to junior nurses.
- Teach pediatric assessment, monitoring, medication safety and weight-based dosing.
- Train nurses to recognize pediatric emergencies, deterioration and escalation triggers.
- Supervise nurses during procedures, emergency interventions and other clinical activities as appropriate.
- Provide constructive feedback and identify individual training needs.
- Conduct case-based teaching following significant or challenging cases.
- Guide nurses in proper Emergency Room preparation, patient monitoring and emergency response.
- Work with the Senior Nurse to improve clinical competency, confidence and patient safety.
- Promote a supportive learning environment while maintaining appropriate supervision and accountability.
- Emergency Preparedness & Clinical Readiness
- Regularly review emergency equipment, oxygen supply, emergency trolley/crash equipment and essential supplies.
- Ensure emergency medications are appropriately stocked, available and within expiry dates.
- Review emergency response procedures with nursing staff.
- Participate in emergency drills or simulations when required.
- Identify deficiencies in emergency preparedness and recommend practical solutions to management.
- Ensure the Emergency Room remains clinically ready to receive an unstable pediatric patient.
- Procedures & Diagnostics
- Perform or supervise appropriate pediatric procedures within professional competence and clinic capability.
- Utilize POCT blood investigations and rapid diagnostic kits appropriately.
- Interpret relevant laboratory and diagnostic results.
- Use ultrasound appropriately where clinically indicated.
- Ensure safe infection-control practices and accurate documentation for investigations and procedures.
- Patient & Parent Communication
- Communicate professionally, respectfully and compassionately with children and parents/guardians.
- Explain diagnoses, investigations, treatment options, medication administration and follow-up clearly.
- Explain warning signs requiring urgent reassessment or hospital attendance.
- Provide appropriate pediatric health education, including vaccination, nutrition, hygiene and infection prevention.
- Manage anxious or distressed parents calmly and professionally while maintaining confidentiality.
- Clinical Documentation & Handover
- Maintain complete, accurate and timely medical records.
- Document assessment, diagnosis, investigations, treatment, medication and clinical response.
- Document emergency interventions, observation and referral/transfer decisions.
- Complete inpatient admission and discharge documentation.
- Provide clear clinical handover to nurses and other doctors when required.
- Clinical Leadership, Teamwork & Management Liaison
- Provide clear clinical direction to nursing staff and promote teamwork.
- Assist in developing and improving clinical protocols, SOPs and patient-care workflows.
- Be proactive in identifying problems and recommending practical solutions rather than simply highlighting problems.
- Advise the Clinic Manager/Owner on clinical equipment, medication, staffing, training and patient-safety needs.
- Communicate significant clinical cases, safety incidents, emergency transfers and operational concerns promptly.
- Contribute to the development of a high-quality pediatric clinical service.

- Master's Degree in Pediatrics is required
- Pediatrician in Hospitals and Healthcare for 1 to 2 years is preferred
- Recognized medical degree and valid registration/licensing to practice in Cambodia.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification or appropriate specialist training in Pediatrics.
- Relevant experience managing pediatric patients.
- Strong pediatric assessment, clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage common pediatric emergencies and initiate stabilization.
- Good knowledge of pediatric medication and weight-based dosing.
