My Village (MVi) is a Cambodian non-profit-non-government-organization which was founded in November 2006. MVi is working in northeast provinces of Cambodia, particular in Mondulkiri and Stung Treng Province. The main MVi development endeavors is to promote Indigenous People's rights to land, Fisheries, forestry, Natural Resource Management (NAM), Modern Agricultural Production and Market (MAP), Climate Change and Community Renewable Energy Options (CRE), Social Accountability (SAC) and community empowerment in partnership through the development of network and community groups, building women network and supporting the community to improve their livelihood status. Strengthen indigenous and local communities to become competent, fully recognized, and accountable local institutions for natural resource management and local development. Indigenous and local communities have more ownership and a better quality of life.

Position Summary

The position is for Norec Participants Exchange Program

Duty Station :12 months on Bangladesh Country and two months in Stung Treng Province, Cambodia with MVi

Through this exchange project of professional participants, you will get 3 types of benefits as following:

  1. The skills and competencies of participants can indeed grow through employment abroad. When individuals work in a foreign country, they acquire new approaches, practices, tools, knowledge, and technology. Additionally, they have the chance to integrate these experiences into their home organization. The exchange project also enhances participants’ credibility.
  2. When participants engage in exchange projects, they often contribute valuable documents to their organizations. These materials can include strategies, modules, articles, and information, which enhance the organization’s resources. By sharing insights gained from their experiences, participants help enrich the organization’s knowledge base and promote growth.
  3. When participants engage with a host target community, they have a unique opportunity to enhance their cultural competence and linguistic skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Attend compulsory meetings, events, and preparatory training courses organized by Norec in Kathmandu, Nepal, or elsewhere, based on confirmation from the donor, within the confirmed time and schedule.
  • Write regular progress reports for MVi and SEEP as required.
  • Develop the training curriculum for natural resource management and climate change.
  • Work under the supervision of MVi management in Cambodia and SEEP management in Bangladesh.
  • Facilitate training sessions for SEEP staff related to the environment and climate change.
  • Facilitate training sessions for community members.
  • Develop two resource materials: one focused on environmental conservation strategies and the other on alternative livelihoods for resource-dependent communities.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing sessions with relevant SEEP staff, aimed at enhancing their practical skills in implementing environmental conservation practices during a semi-formal, hands-on learning event.
  • Organize awareness sessions with community groups to enhance their knowledge and skills in environmental conservation, empowering them to initiate community-led conservation efforts.
  • Develop and implement action plans based on the skills acquired within the target communities.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in agriculture, Environment, land management, forestry, or a related field.
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Experiences working with NGOs in the field of climate change or natural resource management.
  • Skills in computer competency.
Soft Skills
  • Be a good team player.
  • Excellent in speaking and writing English.
  • It is required for Participant to have valid passport for international travel within 12 months period from the date of departure.
  • Understand the culture adaptation between Cambodia and Bangladesh.
  • Participants must continue to stay for two months as volunteer with MVi after returning from the exchange project in Bangladesh.
