Announcement Description

GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

The projects “EU-German Global Access and Trade Expertise (EU-German GATE)” and “EU-German Cambodia Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (EU-German CAPSAFE)” are funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ Cambodia.

The EU-German GATE Project works to improve regulations, measures and practices in Cambodia in support of inclusive and sustainable exports to the EU and regional markets. The project targets five key areas: strengthening public and private sector capacity for sustainable, inclusive trade policies focused on LDC graduation; enhancing stakeholder knowledge of digital economy laws, including consumer and data protection; improving risk management skills of customs and government agencies; boosting trade facilitation by these agencies; and increasing access for SMEs, especially women-owned, to ASEAN, EU, and other markets.

The EU-German CAPSAFE project aims to enhance the sustainability, competitiveness, and inclusiveness of cashew nut and pepper value chains by increasing local value addition. The project focuses on three key outputs: Output 1 strengthens institutional capacity for agri-food safety and climate-resilient agriculture, including the promotion of decent work. Output 2 boosts profitability through sustainable, deforestation-free production practices. Output 3 enhances the capabilities of agribusiness MSMEs and industry associations to add value in alignment with ASEAN and premium markets, including the EU.
