GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. In the Kingdom of Cambodia, the ASEAN-German cooperation projects work in two focal areas (i) Regional Economic Integration and (ii) Environment and Climate Change. Additionally, the team implements a bilateral project with a focus on the Circular Economy.

The mentioned project portfolio of economic and environmental development projects supports regional stability, sustainable prosperity and resilience and are directed in Cambodia towards enhancing the country’s competitiveness, economic diversification, and the conservation of global goods. The project implementation includes capacity building and advises partners on national and local levels for the creation of better framework conditions for businesses, as well as the improvement of environmental protection. At a juncture where Cambodia is actively undertaking very comprehensive reform efforts, GIZ is committed to offering technical cooperation in an effective and efficient manner. GIZ is also able to establish linkages and facilitate cooperation between public and private actors in Cambodia and several other ASEAN countries. Projects under the mentioned two portfolios are:

  • Promotion of Sustainable Agricultural Value Chain in ASEAN (AgriTrade);
  • Support to Consumer Protection, Competitiveness, and Small and Medium Enterprises in ASEAN (SUCCESS);
  • Promoting Trade-related Aspects for Circular Economy in ASEAN (TraCE).
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to Protect the Marine Environment and Coral Reefs (3RproMar II);
  • Transboundary Water Cooperation in the Lower Mekong Basin (TWC III);
  • Green Growth Initiative for Circular Economy (GGI4CE); and
  • Southeast Asia Climate & Clean Air Initiative (SEACAI).

Position Summary
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing the project’s communication and visibility plan, including creating content for social media, newsletters, and other communication platforms;
  • Support the planning and organization of events, workshops, and promotional activities.
  • Prepare communication materials such as brochures, posters, banners, and project signboards to clearly present the project’s impact;
  • Assist in drafting press releases, articles, captions, and internal communication materials;
  • Handle event photography and field documentation, ensuring the media archive stays updated;
  • Help the team to track, connect with, and evaluate how well communication activities are working;
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support for PR and communication activities;
  • Translate and adapt communication materials from English to Khmer and vice-versa;
  • Participate in daily organizational tasks such as reporting and attending team meetings when required.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • Khmer - Fluent
  • English - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in or a recent graduate (no longer than 6 months) of a degree program in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field;
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Khmer and English;
  • Understanding of social media platforms and content creation;
  • Interest in public relations, media outreach, and event coordination;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams); familiarity with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus;
  • Knowledge of photography, photo and video editing skills is an advantage;
Soft Skills
  • Self-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks; and
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work in a team-oriented environment.
