GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

The project “EU-German Cambodia Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems” EU-German CAPSAFE is a co-funded project between the European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under the team Europe Initiative 1 ‘‘Sustainable landscapes, forests and agriculture’’.

The Specific Objective of the project is to improve the sustainability, competitiveness and inclusiveness of cashew nut and pepper with higher local value added.

The project follows a multi-level approach. Output 1 aims at increasing the institutional capacities for improving the national systems on agri-food safety and climate-resilient agriculture, including decent work. Output 2 aims at increasing the profitability of cashew nut and pepper value chains with climate-resilient and sustainable intensification practices including deforestation free production. Output 3 aims at increasing the capacities of agribusiness micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and industry associations and federations (IAF) to add value in the pepper and cashew nut value chains in accordance with ASEAN and premium markets, including the EU.

We are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic interns to join our team. The focus areas are the Cashew nut value chain in Kampong Thom and Kratie provinces, and the Pepper value chain in Tbuong Khmum province, Cambodia.

Position Summary

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Support Technical Advisors (TAs) on cashew nut and pepper value chain development activities
  • Regular field visits working closely with target Agricultural Cooperatives and Producer Groups to support capacity development and contract farming activities
  • Support TAs at field level in capacity development activities such as training, data collection, technical advisory support and report challenges of production
  • Support in organizing training courses or any capacity development activities were necessary both at provincial level and community levels
  • Support the follow up of demo farms progress to ensure proper application of techniques
  • Perform other project-related tasks as assigned by the TAs.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a vocational training and/ or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Economics, or others related field
  • Understanding of the Value Chian value chain approach and production techniques
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Khmer and English
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to participate in field visits with the project team
  • Passion for sustainable agriculture and community development is a plus
  • Willingness to travel in remote areas
