National Communication Volunteer

Position Summary

The role of the National Volunteer – Communications will be assisting ICS Project Director to promote VSO ICS Cambodia and NYEN Project Visibility in 2 provinces Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Thom Provinces. Communication Volunteer will work to collect all ICS Project and NYEN unique achievements, volunteer’s case study, ICS events and raising by using social media platforms to promote in country social media, regional, and global. He/she will also support VSO ICS Cambodia activities such as campaigning and public relations activities, generate content, project video capture, draft press release and any other promotional items.

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Qualification in Professional Communication/ Department of Media and Communication or other related field.
  • Experience in communications and social media, either through education, work or volunteering
  • Experience working within an International development organisation or charity is an advantage
  • Interest in media and communications (including social media)
  • Interest in politics and current affairs
  • Innovative, tech-savvy and experienced using key social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube) to engage with different stakeholders
  • Good organisational and research skills
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good command of English and Khmer languages in both speaking and writing
  • Fully IT literate
  • Commitment to volunteering for at least 6 months
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Ability to be open minded and respectful
  • Ability to be resilient and adaptive to new situations
  • Ability to facilitate positive change and build sustainable working relationships
  • Ability to seek and share knowledge

VSO promotes equal opportunities and values a diverse workforce.

Allowance: As a VSO volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full time basis. VSO will cover your travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home. You will also receive some financial support to contribute to your on-going expenses at home.

Accommodation: VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
