The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together 33 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has more than 300 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 22 nationalities and includes 6 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.

Medical Secretary - Technician for Reception

Position Summary

The lnstitut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is recruiting a full time Medical Secretary within the reception at the Medical Biology Laboratory.

Position Overview

The Medical Secretary or the Technician for reception in the laboratory is essential to ensure the smooth running of the patient reception, the administrative management, the communication and the coordination of internal and external information.

Recruitment conditions:

  • Language: Proficiency in Khmer and English and/or French
  • Position: Full-time
  • Contract: The initial contract is offered for 1 year (renewable)
  • Start Date: Available to start as soon as possible

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Welcome clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Manage laboratory communication channels, including answering phone calls, redirecting them to the appropriate staff, and responding to emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Verify the conformity of the prescription/sample.
  • Print, sort, verify laboratory result reports and have them signed by the biologists as needed.
  • Protect clients' rights by maintaining the confidentiality of personal and financial information, and ensuring impartiality.
  • Maintain operations by adhering to laboratory policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Work in rotating shifts as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assign work areas.
  • Perform general administrative and clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning, printing, and data entry to support efficient reception operations.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and improvement of the laboratory quality managment system.
  • Use the Laboratory Information System and perform cashier duties when assigned.
  • Manage communication with clients through laboratory social media platforms.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • High School Diploma with possible prior medical office/front desk experience or Qualified Medical Laboratory Technician wanting to move into medical secretarial work.

Nurse - Technician for Sampling

The Nurse or the Technician for sampling will play a key role in carrying out essential sampling activities within the area dedicated to taking biological samples at the Medical Biology Laboratory of the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge.

  • Take blood and bacteriological samples
  • Check the identity of the patient before sampling
  • Check the concordance of the medical prescription with the Laboratory Information System
  • Inform the patient about the time taken for results to be returned
  • Sort the samples according to the recipient laboratory
  • Transport biological samples to laboratories
  • Maintain sampling rooms and equipment, respecting laboratory procedures
  • Carry out selective sorting of waste, respect hygiene and safety instructions
  • Participate in the development, implementation and improvement of the laboratory quality system
  • Working as a secretary at the reception: patient reception, answer the phone, use of the Laboratory Information System.

  • Perform External Quality Assessment (EQA) as per instruction.

  • Appropriately utilize automate devices to perform tests
  • Interpret test results through technical validation.
  • Ensure test results accurate, reliable, timely, and interpretable by users.
  • Report laboratory results using laboratory information system.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Strictly adherence to biosafety and biosecurity protocols.
  • Participate in improving the laboratory quality system
