We are seeking a dynamic and committed Managing Director (MD) to lead our growing team in Cambodia. This is not a desk-bound role: the MD must be proactive, hands-on, and ready to “get their hands dirty” by visiting farms in the provinces, engaging directly with smallholder farmers, and ensuring our solutions truly meet their needs.
The MD will provide overall leadership and management of the company, setting strategic direction, driving financial sustainability, and ensuring operational excellence. This role requires both visionary leadership and practical field engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the company’s strategic direction and long-term growth plans.
- Oversee the development and implementation of business plans and ensure financial viability.
- Lead operations to deliver reliable services and measurable impact for farmers.
- Represent the company to stakeholders, partners, and the public.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, partners, and customers.
- Actively engage in field visits to rural farms, ensuring services are aligned with farmer realities.
- Recruit, train, and develop staff while fostering a positive and productive work culture.
- Monitor KPIs, manage risks, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
- Drive innovation in agri-services and clean energy solutions.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
- Khmer - Fluent is preferred
- English - Fluent is preferred
Work History:
- Experience in business and team management, business development, and budget oversight for 4 years
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree is a plus.
- Background in financial modelling, reporting, and analysis.
- Experience in energy and agriculture is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to design and deliver commercial services to customers.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); Khmer fluency strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Soft Skills
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multicultural teams and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Hands-on leadership style, with willingness to travel regularly to rural farms and engage directly with farmers.
