Position Summary

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Librarian (local female)

OFFICE/BRANCH: Academic/Forest Hill International School

REPORTS TO: School Principal

SUPERVISES: N/A

The Librarian plays a crucial role in managing the school library, fostering a love for reading among students, coordinating library classes, and working closely with academic assistants, teachers, and other program stakeholders to support the school's literacy goals.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manage the daily operations, organization, and maintenance of the school library environment;
  • Coordinate and monitor the schedule and attendance of library classes across different programs;
  • Curate, catalog, and manage the inventory of library books, digital resources, textbooks, and supplementary learning materials;
  • Assist teachers and students in selecting appropriate reading materials to support the curriculum and literacy development;
  • Collaborate with academic assistants and teachers from other programs to integrate library resources into classroom learning;
  • Call and communicate with parents regarding lost or damaged books, library events, and reading initiatives;
  • Work closely with the Leadership Team and teachers to ensure continuous improvement of library services and program quality;
  • Collaborate with Marketing and other departments to promote school library events, book fairs, and reading programs;
  • Work closely with the Front Desk to handle parent complaints, advice, and suggestions regarding library services;
  • Assists in implementing student orientation and registration activities, particularly library onboarding;
  • Acts to upgrade own professional knowledge and skills in library science and modern educational resources;
  • Assists to define and disseminate information about school library policies, procedures, and borrowing rules to parents, students, and academic staff;
  • Promotes and maintains open communications, positive student attitudes, and respects the dignity and worth of academic staff and students;
  • Assists in the completion of records, weekly library reports, and regular inventory audits of library equipment and materials;
  • Other tasks assigned by the School Principal.

  • Respects and abides by Forest Hill International School vision, mission, goals and all policies, guidelines, and quality management systems;
  • Monitor daily academic and library operations within the school;
  • Follows up on and improves library resource issues for both students and teachers;
  • Handles hospitality work for Forest Hill and WEG.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Good
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Library Science, Education, or a related field is preferred
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Good English Proficiency;
  • High level of diplomacy & confidentiality required;
  • Good knowledge of the educational and modern school library environment;
  • Need to stay focused and organized with all library administrative issues, cataloging systems, and the academic team;
Soft Skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, report writing, decision-making, conflict-solving, & facilitating skills, & good interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently, trustworthily, & collaboratively;
  • Demonstrates excellent influencing skills and a passion for fostering student literacy;
  • Being able to solve operational or student-related issues quickly is required;
