Duties: The incumbent of this position will serve as a technical, hands-on Laboratory Specialist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) research laboratory in Phnom Penh, Cambodia led by the NIH Section Head (Science Attaché). The incumbent contributes by: 1) developing laboratory and analytical workflows for use at the NIH/NIAID research laboratory including design, execution, optimization, revision, and training, 2) providing technical oversight in laboratory research with an emphasis on quality assurance and biosafety and security, 3) managing logistical operations for the NIH/NIAID research laboratory including storage and inventory of research specimens and procurement, inventory, and maintenance of scientific materials and equipment in good working condition, 4) collecting and analyzing research data and preparing reports in the form of study progress reports and scientific communications, and 5) providing laboratory expertise to local partners in the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, Institut Pasteur du Cambodge, and other organizations in accordance with NIH/NIAID research agreements and data sharing policies.
