AUPP High School-Foxcroft Academy embraces a college preparatory curriculum, created in partnership with Foxcroft Academy and American University Phnom Penh, that embraces a STEAM (science, technology, engineering arts, and mathematics) philosophy that focuses on combining disciplines designed not only to prepare students for university but also provide students with real-world 21st Century skills. All courses are taught in English by teachers from around the globe. This ensures not only a variety of perspectives but also an expansive pool of highly qualified teachers. AUPPHS-FA promotes a western-style pedagogy that provides students with multiple opportunities to express their understanding of a problem or issue. Students are required to take 3-4 Advanced Placement courses in both their junior and senior year.

Khmer Language/Literature Teacher Capable of Teaching Grades 7-8 (1 Position)

Position Summary

AUPP High School-Foxcroft Academy (AUPPHS-FA), located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is looking for a talented Khmer Language/Literature teacher to join the school's dynamic team. AUPPHS is affiliated with American University Phnom Penh and Foxcroft Academy (located in the United States), thus the name. AUPPHS-FA is in its fourth year, experiencing steady growth in enrollment since its founding in 2020. Starting in school year 2023-24, AUPPHS-FA will include grades K-12.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Teachers at AUPP are expected to work collaboratively in order to provide a positive educational experience for its students.
  • Full-time teachers are required to provide 20 hours of classroom instruction per week.
  • Teachers are expected to hold “office hours” in order to provide individual help to students. These hours are not expected to be held outside the normal working day.
  • Teachers will be asked to facilitate an after-class activity, such as a club or group pursuit. Examples of this may be a book club, Model UN, debate club, or jogging club. The time parameters of this expectation will be determined by the activity. Stipends will be paid based on time expectations.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Educational degree(s) reflecting intimate knowledge of Khmer literature and language.
  • Able to teach students the intricacies of research writing.
  • A teaching certificate is a plus but not required.
  • 3 years of teaching experience is preferred.
  • Be a native Khmer speaker (mandatory).
  • A good command of English is preferable.
  • ESL Certificate is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be passionate about learning and teaching.
