With the One World – No Hunger Initiative, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) aims to make a significant contribution to the reduction of poverty and hunger. In doing so, particular emphasis is placed on food and nutrition security for women of reproductive age and young children.
The Global Programme "Food and Nutrition Security, Enhanced Resilience" is being implemented in 12 countries in Africa and Asia: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Togo, Yemen and Zambia. Activities build on existing projects of German development cooperation in various sectors.
The Project “Multisectoral Food and Nutrition Security” (MUSEFO) implemented by GIZ in Cambodia is part of the Global Programme "Food and Nutrition Security, Enhanced Resilience" under the "One World – No Hunger” Special Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The overall objective is: The food and nutrition situation of those vulnerable to food and nutrition insecurity, especially women of childbearing age and young children, has improved. A multisectoral approach which combines measures in the areas of health and agriculture is implemented in four fields of activity: (1) improving knowledge and attitudes towards balanced and healthy diets for women and small children; (2) capacity development for health staff to pass on knowledge about nutrition and basic hygiene; diversification of food production; and (4) improving capacities of local multisectoral coordination units towards planning and implementation of the National Strategy for Food Security and Nutrition.
