Announcement Description

Heifer International:

Heifer International (Heifer) is a global non-profit organization working to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth by engaging smallholder farmers in agricultural value chain and market system development. For over 75 years, Heifer has invested in smallholder farmers and benefited 20.7 million households –more than 105 million people around the world, supporting them to build social capital, use appropriate technologies, generate income, and achieve sustainable livelihoods.

Operating in 21 countries across Asia, Africa, and the Americas, Heifer provides farmers with technical assistance and opportunities to strengthen essential skills, including finance and business management. Farmers receive expert support to improve the quality and quantity of the goods they produce, as well as connections to local and international markets to increase sales. Heifer works across a range of value chains, including food crops, livestock, spices, and textiles.

Heifer is strengthening value chain systems and delivering innovative, environmentally friendly agricultural solutions. Through partnerships with governments, the private sector, small businesses, non-profit organizations, and other entities, Heifer and its partners create unique solutions to local challenges, designed to build inclusive, resilient economies.

Heifer Cambodia:

Heifer began working in Cambodia in 1999, improving production and increasing incomes of smallholder farmers through backyard chickens and safe vegetables, while exploring opportunities in beef cattle value chains. Smallholder farmers in the country are organized into self-help groups (SHGs) and agricultural cooperatives (ACs), enabling them to access new markets and financing to scale their agribusinesses. SHGs receive various capacity building trainings as a part of Heifer’s Values-Based Holistic Community Development (VBHCD) model which helps them to unleash their potential. Heifer Cambodia’s project focus on increasing food security.
