Swisscontact – the Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation – is an independent non-profit foundation established in 1959 by exponents of the Swiss private sector. We foster sustainable and inclusive economic development and are active in 41 countries with 139 active projects and more than 1176 employees. Swisscontact has been presenting in Cambodia since January 2013 and operates in six working areas - vocational education and training, labour market insertion, continuing vocational education and training, entrepreneurial ecosystems, sustainable agriculture and sustainable tourism development - always acting through private sector development. Building on the wider organisation’s regional and global experience, Swisscontact strives to support local areas of focus, including agricultural innovation, tourism, impact investment, and renewable energy.

The Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture (ISA) is financed by the Happel Foundation, the Marcuard Family Office, among other donors, and is part of the Swisscontact Development Programme, which is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA. In line with the aspirations of the Royal Government of Cambodia, ISA will work to make the Cambodian agriculture sector move towards sustainable intensification. In its second phase the project continues to promote appropriate technologies and extension services for a sustainable agricultural production. This leads to an improved soil health that allows smallholder farmers to increase their productivity and income. Private sector actors providing agricultural products and services such as seeds and machinery are supported in establishing self-sustaining business models in order to increase farmer’s access to farm inputs. Improved coordination among public and private sector actors will lead to stronger collaboration, supporting the implementation of the Cambodia’s roadmap for conservation agriculture and sustainable intensification.
