Announcement Description

The Climate Adaptation and Resilience in Cambodia’s Coastal Fishery Dependent Communities “CamAdapt” with the objective “Coastal fishery-dependent communities adapt to climate change through strengthening coastal ecosystem and adapting their livelihoods” will help Cambodia’s coastal communities become more resilient to climate variability and change.

The project will work towards the achievement of four interlinked components to contribute to the project objective:

  • Component 1: Strengthening policy coordination and capacity development for an adaptive enabling environment
  • Component 2: Sustainable Ecosystem Management for coastal resilience
  • Component 3: Fishing Community Adaptation Capacity strengthened
  • Component 4: Knowledge Management

The project has been funded by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) for 5 years. It is being implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and directly executed by the General Department of Administration Nature Conservation and Protection (GDANCP) of the Ministry of Environment (MoE) and Fisheries Administration (FiA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).

Position Summary

Reports to: Deputy Project Manager/ Project Manger

Expected place of travel: Kampot, Kep, Koh Kong and Prah Sihanouk Province

Duration: Full time ( April to 31 December 2026)

Functions / Key Results Expected

Internship under PMU, and the overall supervision of the Deputy Project Manager / Project Manager of MoE.

TECHNICAL FOCUS

Under the overall supervision of the General Directorate of Natural Protected Areas, the PMU’s Operation and Finance Officer, Project CamAdapt team Ministry of Environment, Phnom Penh, and in close collaboration with CamAdapt PMU. FinA, international and national consultants, he/she will be responsible for the overall operation, finance and compliance role supports to the project.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The interns will support the effective, timely, and smooth implementation of CamAdapt project activities, particularly as field-level implementation intensifies. The positions aim to strengthen coordination, technical support, and administrative follow-up within the respective ministries.

SUPERVISION AND REPORTING

The interns will report directly to the designated focal points within GDANCP/MOE and will work closely with the CamAdapt Project Management Unit (PMU).

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support coordination of project activities at national and sub-national levels;
  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, consultations, and field missions;
  • Support data collection, compilation, and preliminary analysis related to project indicators;
  • Assist in drafting reports, meeting minutes, and technical documents in Khmer and English;
  • Support communication and coordination between line ministries, local authorities, and stakeholders;
  • Participate in field visits to coastal provinces to support implementation and monitoring activities;
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support as required for project implementation.

Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • Khmer - Fluent
  • English - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in natural resource management, climate change, environmental science, conservation, fisheries, forestry, or related fields.
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Experience working in or originating from coastal provinces is considered an asset;
  • Proficiency in Khmer and English (spoken and written);
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, email, internet research).
Soft Skills
  • Strong interest in climate change adaptation, coastal management, and environmental governance;
  • Good communication and coordination skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
