Kep International School is an independent private day school in Kep Province, Cambodia and Kep International School II is our second branch located in nearby Kampot Province. Established in 2013, our school system provides a full-time trilingual educational program for English, Khmer, and Chinese. We are licensed by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and we teach the Khmer National Program and an International Program.

International Program Nursery Teacher

Position Summary

Location: Kampot Province International Program Teacher (Nursery Classroom)

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) and the Jolly English program to lead and teach an international nursery classroom for ages 2 – 4.
  • Incorporate the Montessori principle of a prepared environment to invest time into preparing the classroom space, learning materials, daily learning routine, and learning activities.
  • Mentor Cambodian teaching assistants.
  • Maintain a high level of international standards for student supervision and safety.
  • Work in a team with teaching assistants to achieve a high level of classroom learning.
  • Appropriately use the environment to facilitate and encourage learning through play.
  • Complete evaluations and report learning outcomes to parents and the school administration.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in early childhood development, education, developmental psychology, or a related field is preferred
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • A passion for the field of early childhood education.
  • A passion for working with young learners in a nursery classroom environment.
  • A commitment to continued professional development on early childhood development topics.
  • Excellent health and attendance at school.
  • Experience and knowledge of the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC).
  • Experience and knowledge of Montessori early childhood approaches to learning.
  • First responder skills such as first aid, CPR, or medical experience.
  • Additional expertise in a particular area, such as speech therapy or behavior therapy.
  • Interest in leadership with the ability to mentor, train, and inspire young people in the community who are working as teaching assistants to gain new professional and childcare skills.
  • Demonstrated successful prior teaching experience with this specific level and age group.
  • The ability to achieve a high level of personal and classroom organization.
  • Professional knowledge of early childhood development.
Soft Skills
  • A high level of personal energy and enthusiasm.
  • A reliable morning person with the ability to consistently arrive to school on time.
  • As passion for rural education development and a strong sense of adventure, with the ability to live and thrive in the community of Kampot Province.
  • Exceptional multicultural and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse team teaching a diverse group of students.
  • The ability to successfully organize classroom supplies and craft materials.
  • A passion for working in a team to develop a pleasant, clean and organized classroom environment.
