International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) Teacher
- Incorporate the Montessori principle of a prepared environment to invest time into preparing the classroom space, learning materials, daily learning routine, and learning activities.
- Follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) to lead and teach a Kindergarten for age 3 classroom. This is a leadership position that involves mentoring Cambodian teaching assistants.
- Maintain a high level of international standard student supervision and safety.
- Work in a team with teaching assistants to achieve a high level of classroom learning through the coordination of the team.
- Appropriately use the environment to facilitate and encourage learning through play.
- Work with parents on child adjustment plans to help the children adjust to their first experience attending school.
- Complete evaluations and report learning outcomes to parents and the school administration.
- Requirements:
- A passion for the field of early childhood education and a passion for working with children who are age 3.
- Demonstrated successful prior teaching experience with this specific level and age group.
- Ability to achieve a high level of personal and classroom organization.
- Professional knowledge of early childhood development.
- The ability to follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC).
- Commitment to continued professional development on early childhood development topics.
- Excellent health and attendance at school.
- High level of personal energy and enthusiasm.
- Reliable morning person with the ability to consistently arrive to school on time.
- Strong sense of adventure with the ability to thrive in a rural seaside community that has fewer resources available compared to the city.
- Exceptional multicultural and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse team teaching a diverse group of students and working with a diverse group of parents.
- The candidate must be currently inside the nation of Cambodia and must possess a visa and work permit.
- Preferred Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood development, education, developmental psychology, or a related field.
- Experience and knowledge of the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC).
- Experience and knowledge of Montessori early childhood approaches to learning.
- First responder skills such as first aid, CPR, or medical experience.
- Additional expertise in a particular area, such as speech therapy or behavior therapy.
- Interest in leadership with the ability to mentor, train, and inspire young people in the community who are working as teaching assistants to gain new professional and childcare skills.
