Position Summary

Job holder reports to: Primary Coordinator

Job purpose:

The ICT Teacher is responsible for delivering ICT instruction aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum, providing basic technical support to back-office staff, and coordinating with external network technicians as needed.

  • Problem solving: ICT Teachers address challenges such as adapting Cambridge-based ICT lessons to varying student skill levels, resolving classroom technology issues, supporting staff with technical troubleshooting, and coordinating with external network technicians. Through problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability, they ensure smooth integration of technology in both teaching and school operations while maintaining academic standards.
  • Communication: ICT Teachers must communicate effectively with students, fellow teachers, support staff, the Primary Coordinator, and external service providers. Clear and professional communication is essential for delivering lessons, resolving technical issues, and coordinating network-related tasks, while also supporting the school’s collaborative and inclusive environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach ICT to primary-level students following the Cambridge International Curriculum. Deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that build students’ digital literacy, problem-solving, and responsible technology use.
  • Lesson Planning & Innovation: Develop detailed lesson plans, learning resources, and assessments aligned with Cambridge learning objectives. Incorporate creative teaching strategies, coding fundamentals, and emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, and cloud tools to prepare students for the future of ICT.
  • Student Engagement & Skill Development: Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and confidence in using technology. Support students in developing practical ICT skills that are relevant to real-world applications and future careers.
  • Technical Support for School Operations: Provide basic IT support to back-office staff, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues. Assist with the setup and maintenance of school devices such as computers, printers, projectors, and smart boards. Support staff with software usage across platforms like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and school-specific systems.
  • Network Coordination: Act as the internal liaison for network-related tasks. Coordinate with external network technicians from the school’s service provider to ensure stable connectivity, timely issue resolution, and system upgrades when needed.
  • Digital Safety & Compliance: Ensure safe and responsible use of technology by students and staff. Adhere to school policies on data protection, cybersecurity, and acceptable use. Promote digital citizenship and online safety in the classroom.
  • Collaboration & School Engagement: Work collaboratively with academic and administrative teams to support ICT integration across the school. Participate in school-wide initiatives, events, and technology-enhanced learning projects.
  • Professional Development & Upskilling: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with Cambridge program updates, educational technology trends, and global ICT innovations. Proactively upskill in areas such as coding, digital media, cloud computing, and AI to enhance teaching quality and student readiness.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student progress, technical issues, and ICT inventory. Prepare reports and updates as required by the academic coordinator or school leadership.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • The employee is expected to support and perform additional duties as reasonably assigned by their line manager, provided such tasks align with their role and area of expertise.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, ICT, Computer Science, or a closely related subject.
Work History:
  • Minimum of teaching experience, preferably within the Cambridge Primary Curriculum or a similar international framework, with a focus on delivering ICT instruction and fostering digital literacy for 2 years
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) is required.
  • Practical experience in ICT training, workshops, or coaching, along with supporting school-wide digital initiatives, basic IT troubleshooting, and collaboration with technical service providers.
  • Strong understanding of the Cambridge International Curriculum, with the ability to differentiate instruction and manage diverse learning needs effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to support student engagement and balance teaching with technical responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology tools and digital learning platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, coding platforms).
  • Familiarity with basic IT troubleshooting, device setup, and coordination with external technical teams.
  • Ability to integrate emerging technologies such as coding, robotics, and cloud-based tools into classroom instruction.
  • Maintains appropriate hygiene, grooming, and dress standards suitable for an international school setting.
  • Demonstrates respectful, inclusive behavior and communicates clearly with students, colleagues, and parents while upholding school policies.
