Head of International Curriculum (1 Position)
Reports to: CEO
Working Hours: 8 am-5 pm
Working Days: Monday to Friday (By School Calendar)
Position Overview:
The Head of International Curriculum oversees the academic operations of these educational stages, ensuring the highest standards in teaching, learning, and student outcomes. This role involves leading the academic team, developing and implementing policies, and fostering an environment that promotes academic excellence, discipline, and student engagement.
- Academic Quality Assurance:
- Overseeing the implementation and continuous improvement of the Cambridge curriculum across all levels, ensuring alignment with Cambridge standards and objectives.
- Monitoring and evaluating teaching methodologies and student outcomes, implementing strategies to enhance performance.
- Guiding staff in understanding and delivering the curriculum effectively, including Cambridge IGCSE, AS, and A-Level programs.
- Ensuring preparation and readiness for Cambridge examinations and other academic assessments.
- Developing and updating a robust curriculum that meets international standards and local regulatory requirements, ensuring alignment with the school's vision and values.
- Monitoring and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, providing support and feedback to ensure best practices in pedagogy.
- Ensuring adherence to academic policies, standards, and international best practices.
- Promoting the integration of innovative teaching methods, including the use of technology.
- Communicating regularly with parents regarding academic progress, attendance, behaviour, and school initiatives.
- Engaging with the community to build partnerships that support the school's mission and objectives.
- Strategic Planning and School Development:
- Developing and implementing a strategic plan to achieve the school’s academic goals.
- Staying updated with advancements in Cambridge education and adapting the school’s programs to meet global standards.
- Leading the accreditation and compliance processes with Cambridge International Education.
- New Enrollment and Retention:
- Planning and conceptualizing new innovative ideas/ways to increase the enrollment by keeping tabs on the competition, to be advanced and an outstanding brand in the market.
- Developing competitive strategies to deepen penetration in the market, lead generation and meet school targets.
- Retaining students and increasing parents’ satisfaction through raising the standards of quality for teaching, learning, safety and student care.
- Defining “Strengths”, “added value” and “Unique Selling Points” of each school, and communicating and promoting them to parents and the wider community.
- Academic Staff Management and Professional Development:
- Recruiting, developing, and retaining highly qualified teaching and support staff with expertise in the Cambridge curriculum.
- Organizing and facilitating professional development opportunities to enhance academic staff competencies.
- Conducting regular academic staff evaluations, providing constructive feedback and support for continuous improvement.
- Leadership and Management:
- Preparing a 3-year development plan and the yearly academic plan and program for each school year.
- Overseeing the training team for the programmes, including monitoring the quality of training.
- Leading the accreditations/Cambridge team to ensure all accreditation processes and Cambridge programme requirements are met, followed and delivered as required.
- Providing information, objective advice and support to the Governing Body to enable it to meet its responsibilities.
- Financial
- Planning the school academic budgets to ensure strong financial management to accomplish set goals.
- Working closely with the finance team on managing school equipment, resources and materials.
- Long Term Strategy:
- Focusing on long-term planning and goals as the most important key indicator of accomplishment within the schools.
- Supporting the governing body to strengthen the school brand, reputation and growth of the company.
- Scheduling and Timetabling: Develop, review, and manage the school’s master schedule and timetables, ensuring efficient use of resources and teacher allocation.
- Reporting: Provide monthly reports to the CEO detailing academic progress, attendance statistics, student behaviour trends, and updates on curriculum implementation and teacher development.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Extensive experience as a head of international program or in a similar role.
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic and plans for the Academic Department.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- In-depth understanding of the Cambridge curriculum, including IGCSE, AS, and A-Level programs.
- Familiarity with Cambridge International Examinations standards and accreditation processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic planning and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in using technology for administration and education
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience, preferably in a Cambridge school or an international school setting.
- Certifications: Cambridge International Education training or accreditation (preferred).
