We are currently recruiting a Finance Intern to provide essential support to the Finance Office, ensuring effective finance operations and the delivery of high-quality staff support.
This is a local national recruitment. The position is based in Phnom Penh and requires regular travel to project sites if needed.
FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The finance intern will be employed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and seconded to Helen Keller Cambodia, where the Finance and Awards Manager will supervise him/her. Throughout the internship, he/she will work closely with Helen Keller’s Cambodia office staff and support to TLTN Project finance in providing financial management for the Helen Keller Cambodia country office and the Helen Keller global.
- Financial Management:
- Assist in organizing and maintaining financial files, ensuring all records comply with organizational policies, donor requirements, and relevant regulations.
- Support in conducting initial reviews and quality checks of financial documents (e.g., expense reports from Program, M&E, and Operations staff), providing feedback and corrections as needed.
- Assist in preparing various vouchers, including Bill Vouchers, Bill Payment Vouchers, and Journal Vouchers, based on approved expense receipts.
- Copy, file, scan, and archive financial documents systematically for easy retrieval.
- Maintain and update bookkeeping records of all day-to-day expenses, including those from the Phnom Penh office and provincial/field activities.
- Perform other financial tasks as assigned by management to support daily operations.
- Ensure financial transactions comply with internal control procedures.
- Assist in preparing documents for internal and external audits.
- Project field learning and support.
- Assist in mitigating fraud risk to Helen Keller Intl Cambodia. In particular:
- With the guidance from the finance team, assist them conducting regular random checks with Helen Keller payees to ensure that the actual payment received corresponds to the payment issued by the finance office (e.g., calling vendors by phone to ensure that they received the full amount issued by the Finance office, calling trainees by phone to ensure they received the per diem amount recorded by the program staff).
- Cross-check fuel expense reports with moto/vehicle logbook records.
- Immediately report all security incidents or breaches of Helen Keller security and safety rules to the Finance and Awards Manager and/or County Director.
- Khmer - Fluent
- Bachelor's Degree in fresh graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial management.
- Practical experience in financial management and accounting systems, if any.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow financial procedures.
- Proficiency in speaking and writing in Khmer.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, organizational skills, and honesty.
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
