Announcement Description

Background

Angkor Green Investment and Development Co., Ltd (AGID) stands as a prominent importer, producer, and distributor of agricultural inputs and machinery, including the esteemed ISEKI combine harvesters from Japan. Driven by a steadfast commitment to supplying farmers with premium and dependable products at accessible prices, AGID paves the way for sustainable business growth.

Project summary

Straw chopping equipment is an attachment for combine harvesters. During harvesting, the chopper grinds straw into small pieces and spreads them in the field. In smaller sizes, the straw is expected to decompose much faster, reducing constraints for ploughing or rotavating. The decomposed straw contributes to the enhancement of soil organic matter, which plays a crucial role in improving water infiltration and holding capacity, increasing the soil's ability to hold onto and supply nutrients over time, and enhancing soil microbial biodiversity, which can help suppress diseases and pests, among other benefits.

Recognizing the importance of rice straw chopper technology in addressing the challenges in farming and enhancing the efficient use of inputs, particularly fertilizers, AGID has partnered with the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development Program (CAPRED) to undertake a project on piloting the use of rice straw chopping equipment attached to combine harvesters.
