Description of Project: To support Cambodia Research and Learning team to conduct fieldwork and analysis
Type of Contract: Service
Contract Duration: 1-3 months (depending on the need of the project)

Reports to: In-country Research Officer (RO)
OBJECTIVE
BBC Media Action is recruiting a large pool of field research freelancers to work on a contractual basis dependent upon the needs of its projects. The selected freelancers will be kept in a pool that will be invited automatically to work with BBC Media Action in any event that we need freelancers to support existing and new research projects. This means that the selected freelancers will not go through the recruitment process again if we need freelancers to support fieldwork. Freelancers will have the right to choose whether to accept an assignment or not, based on their availability and discussion of specific assignments, conditions, payments, and timelines with BBC Media Action.
The research freelancers will be assigned to work under the supervision of Research Officer to implement research activities for (but not limited to) the Klahan9 SPACE project. The research freelancers will be primarily responsible for attending trainings/meetings related to the study, recruiting participants, conducting interviews and/or focus group discussions with selected participants, data input and transcription, and taking part in analysis workshops.
DURATION
The Field Research Freelancers are expected to carry out the assignment with BBC Media Action upon request and discussion.
- Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in conducting fieldwork – using qualitative and quantitative research approaches
- Strong experience in conducting qualitative interviews and moderating focus group discussions with different stakeholders and vulnerable groups (survey interview experience also counts)
- Experience in notetaking and reporting of interviews and discussions is an advantage
- Strong fieldwork observation and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate with local authority and relevant stakeholders to inform about the research study and to recruit research participants
- Good understanding of English, and fluent in Khmer
- Be able to work in a group and communicate with research participants
- Willing to work flexible hours and weekends
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to travel and stay in the province/community
