Position Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW

INSIGLOBEX LLC is hiring an energetic Field Research Assistant for a short-term hospitality & retail audit in Phnom Penh. This role involves visiting 30 assigned venues to collect menu, pricing, and backbar data via a mobile survey.

WHAT YOU WILL DO Visit 30 venues across Phnom Penh to collect menu and pricing data via smartphone.

Coverage (30 Venues Total): - ~20 On-Premise: Cocktail bars, speakeasies, 5-star hotels, Western restaurants.

~10 Off-Premise: Specialty liquor shops & gourmet supermarkets.

Key Tasks:

  • Survey Logging: Complete a 3–4 min Google Form for each venue.
  • Photo Capture: Take clear photos of menus, bottle prices & backbar displays.
  • Quick Feedback: Hold brief 2-min chats with staff.
  • Daily Submissions: Upload form entries and photos daily.

HOURS & TIMINGFlexible: Complete in 5–6 afternoons (5–6 venues/day, 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM).

SCHEDULE & TIMELINE

  • Total Commitment: 15–20 total hours over 1–2 weeks.
  • Flexible Timing: Completed over 5–6 afternoons (5–6 venues per day, recommended 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM).

Based in Phnom Penh (near key dining/nightlife hubs).

Smartphone with camera, reliable mobile data, and Google Forms access.

COMPENSATION & EXPENSES

Fixed Fee: $300–$400 USD upon verified completion of all 30 venue records.

Transit: 100% of local transit reimbursed against receipts.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Field Audits: Visit 30 assigned venues across Phnom Penh (~20 cocktail bars/hotels/restaurants and ~10 specialty liquor shops/supermarkets).
  • Mobile Survey Logging: Complete a 3–4 minute Google Form entry for each venue visited.
  • Photo Documentation: Capture clear photos of drink menus, spirit list prices, and backbar displays.
  • Staff Engagement: Hold brief 2–3 minute conversations with venue staff or bartenders regarding top-selling imported spirits.
  • Daily Reporting: Upload completed survey entries and photo logs on a daily basis.

Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • Khmer - Fluent is required
  • English - Fluent is required
  • Korean - Good is preferred
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree is preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree is required
Work History:
  • F&B / Hospitality Experience (Top Priority) in Hospitality Management for 1 year is preferred
  • Sales / Commercial Experience in Advertising and Marketing Agencies for 1 year is preferred
  • Field Researcher / Market Research Assistant in Research and Market Research for 1 year is preferred
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Mobile Data Collection & Digital Tools: Proficiency in using Google Forms, smartphone cameras, and mobile data to accurately complete surveys and upload clear photos of menus and backbars in the field.
  • Field Auditing & Data Precision: High attention to detail for recording accurate menu prices, bottle availability, and venue data consistently across multiple locations.
  • F&B & Spirits Product Awareness: General familiarity with distilled spirits categories (e.g., American Whiskey, Bourbon, Rye, Craft Gin) and hospitality menu layouts.
  • Interpersonal & Stakeholder Communication: Ability to initiate brief, polite, and effective conversations with bartenders, venue managers, and retail clerks to gather qualitative feedback.
  • Local Logistics & Navigation: Knowledge of Phnom Penh’s key dining, nightlife, and retail hubs (e.g., BKK1, Tonle Bassac) to plan efficient daily venue visit routes.
  • Time Management & Independent Fieldwork: Strong self-organization to meet daily audit quotas (5–6 venues per day) and upload data logs reliably without direct supervision.
  • Fluent in Khmer; intermediate to advanced English.
