Position Summary

The position will be based in Kamrieng district, Battambang Province.

The FirstHealth Field Officer (FO) is responsible for facilitating community-based health, nutrition, WASH, Early Childhood Development (ECD), and behavior change interventions. The FO works closely with Village Volunteers (VVs), local authorities, and health staff to improve maternal and child health outcomes for Children Under Two (CU2) and Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW).

The FO represents Samaritan’s Purse by modeling Christian values, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring that all activities align with the organization’s mission, vision, and safeguarding standards.

Report to: FirsthHealth Project Coordinator

Contract type: Fixed/Specified Duration

Duration: 1 year (Renewable, subject to funding availability)

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Community Mobilization and Coordination
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with commune councils, village leaders, local police, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Health Center staff to conduct monthly Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP) sessions for CU2 and PLW.
  • Ensure timely referral and follow-up of malnourished children identified during GMP to appropriate health facilities.
  • Support and monitor community-based ECD play centers to ensure safety, functionality, and caregiver engagement.
  • Strengthen Care Groups and Neighbor Groups to ensure regular meetings and effective facilitation by Lead Mothers.
  • Promote inclusion of fathers, grandparents, and caregivers in behavior change sessions.
  • Capacity Building and Supervision of Volunteers
  • Facilitate monthly meetings with Village Volunteers (VVs) using standardized lesson plans and BCC materials.
  • Participate in trainings and ensure accurate cascade of technical messages to VVs.
  • Conduct supportive supervision of VVs at least once every two weeks through home visit accompaniment and session observation.
  • Provide technical education on:
  • Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)
  • Health and hygiene practices
  • WASH
  • Early Childhood Development (ECD)
  • Safe Migration and Anti-Trafficking Awareness
  • Conduct household visits to counsel CU2 caregivers and PLW on key health and nutrition practices.
  • Organize cooking demonstrations and community events to promote improved dietary diversity and complementary feeding practices.
  • Support organization of key campaigns (World Water Day, World Breastfeeding Week, World Toilet Day).
  • Program Implementation and Reporting
  • Develop and implement weekly activity plans aligned with project targets.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit timely weekly and monthly reports based on CGV and Neighbor Women registers.
  • Document success stories and lessons learned with quality photos and narratives.
  • Ensure proper distribution and accountability of project supplies and materials.
  • Support monitoring, evaluations, surveys, and routine data collection activities.
  • Operations and Logistics
  • Maintain the assigned motorbike in good condition and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Support community mobilization, data collection, and event implementation with Village Volunteers.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Safeguarding Responsibilities
  • Uphold Samaritan’s Purse safeguarding policies and ensure protection of children and vulnerable adults in all project activities.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately in line with organizational procedures.
  • Promote a safe and respectful environment in all interactions with community members.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Good
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Undergraduate Degree
Work History:
  • Experience in community health, nutrition, or community development program for 1 year as a minimum
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Strong facilitation, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Basic report writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of English.
  • Ability to ride a motorbike and possess a valid driving license (mandatory).
