ESG and Impact Officer–Cambodia-based (also serving Singapore, Laos and other country needs)
We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our firm as an ESG and Impact Officer to support the integration of environmental, social, governance (ESG) and impact management and measurement across our investment portfolio. The successful candidate will provide support in the due diligence process, capacity building for investee companies and monitoring and reporting. You will work closely with our investment team, portfolio companies, and stakeholders to drive sustainable practices and enhance long-term value creation. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the funds’ commitment to responsible investing contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and respecting the IFC’s Performance Standards.
- With the support of our ESG and Sustainability Manager and through internal and external training opportunities provided by our investors and others, the ESG and Impact Officer will be responsible for the following key assignments:
- Assist the fund manager’s implementation of its Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) and associated governance matters, whilst supporting continuous improvement in the ESMS and its processes;
- Conduct thorough ESG due diligence including in relation to Climate Change, Gender and Human Rights on potential investments, identifying key risks and opportunities and develop Environmental, Social and Governance Action Plans (ESGAP) for each investee company of the fund;
- Provide guidance and support to portfolio companies on implementing ESGAP and helping them develop and implement sustainable business practices;
- Monitor investee companies’ on-going compliance with ESG commitments and reporting requirements and develop, implement and supervise corrective actions and remedies when needed;
- Ensure that Corporate Governance Assessments are properly performed, CG Action Plans are developed and implemented, and CG Reporting is prepared on an annual basis;
- Collect, analyse, and report on ESG data and metrics, producing regular reports for internal and external stakeholders;
- Contribute to the fund's impact measurement framework, assessing the positive social and environmental outcomes of investments;
- Develop the fund manager’s annual ESG performance report to stakeholders; and
- Travel to Laos, Singapore and some S.E. Asian countries as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, e.g. law, economics, environmental science, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications in sustainability or ESG is a plus
- Current or previous experience working in a similar role, such as within a financial institution, within industry or in a consultancy;
- Previous exposure to the IFC Performance Standards would be an advantage;
- Familiarity with sustainable development goals (SDGs) and their application to investment strategies;
- Knowledge of investment and asset management would be an advantage;
- Knowledge of relevant environmental and social issues, such as climate change, human rights, labour practices, and supply chain management;
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence to interact with investment colleagues, investors, and investee companies;
- Ethical and values-driven mindset, with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
