Agape International Missions (AIM) was founded on the ground in Cambodia in 1988 as a humanitarian aid and church planting organization. Since 2005, our ministries have focused on ending the evil of child sexual slavery.

AIM takes a holistic approach to fighting trafficking, restoring victims and transforming communities, in order to defeat trafficking. AIM is guided by a distinct philosophy that God anointed the Church through the power of Jesus Christ to overcome evil.

AIM School is now looking for a Cambodian national candidate to fill the position of full-time ElementaryPrincipal.

Elementary ​ Principal

Position Summary

Reports to: AIM School Director.

JOB PURPOSE:

Serve as the chief administrator of the elementary school department of AIM School by developing, implementing and monitoring policies, programs, curriculum activities and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of the students and professional development of the elementary staff. Work closely with the AIM School leadership team to see AIM’s missions and values are met, and that AIM School functions with a high standard of quality in all aspects.

Job employment terms/benefits:

  • 48hours/week. Typically, from Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm.
  • Includes health insurance for employee and immediate family.
  • Paid holidays.

  • Salary for this position will be based on experience and qualifications.
Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Have knowledge of, or is willing to learn about trauma, including but not limited to; symptoms, linked behaviors, healing, secondary trauma and prevention.
  • Create a positive elementary school culture/environment. This includes- safety, orderliness, discipline policies, and a positive encouraging attitude among staff and students.
  • Support and improve instruction. This includes- encouraging continual professional learning, understanding of curriculum, assessment and research-based strategies to improve teaching, promoting teamwork, and developing curriculum and methods that align with Cambodian government expectations and global standards.
  • Cultivate leadership in others. This includes- mentoring and supporting staff to grow in the areas God has gifted them, focusing on the elementary leadership team and lead teachers.
  • Manage people, data, and processes. This includes- hiring and teacher placement, completing government requirements, making reports for the school director and for AIM, helping with budgeting and preparations for school year, and developing long term plans for the elementary program).
  • Maintain confidentiality and establish and maintain a trusting, confidential relationship with teachers and staff to help them develop their autonomy as professionals.
  • Direct supervision of departmental employees.
  • Spiritual leadership and mentoring of departmental employees, especially the elementary leadership team.
  • Participate with the AIM School Senior Leadership team to make decisions that support school operations.Communicate with other departments to support AIM School functions.
  • Help support other AIM programs as requested, especially with education related training and resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Education and Experience:
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Education related field preferred- Khmer Literature, Math, Sciences, etc.).
  • Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • National Institute of Education Teacher Training Certificate required.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years of classroom teacher experience required.
  • Experience teaching multiple grade levels preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of school leadership required.
  • Other requirements:
  • No criminal record.
  • An active member of a local Christian church.
  • Pastor’s Reference.
  • Skills and Abilities:
  • Fluent in Khmer and English: written and spoken.
  • Good translation (written and spoken) skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of teaching methods and strategies (both Cambodian and International)
  • Good knowledge of Cambodian Ministry of Education policies and expectations for schools.
  • Experience with leading a team and with conflict resolution/mediation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Excellent encouragement, mentorship, and motivation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Consistently demonstrates humility, gentleness, and patience.
  • Willingness to continue learning and improving self
  • Has a heart for mission and service to vulnerable children.
