REPORTS TO : Program Officer > Program Manager
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT and TIME COMMITMENT
- Term for this job is 6 months with possibility to extend to UDC
- Working hours: 40 hours per week, typically, 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday plus one Saturday per month
PURPOSE
The role of an Education Officer (EO) is to implement Free To Shine’s scholarship program. Each EO works in a small group with other EOs and a Social Worker. EOs visit beneficiaries each month at school to monitor what they’ve learned, their attendance and academic performance. EOs conduct monthly family visits and refer concerns to their group Social Worker for intervention and follow-up.
- Liaise with School Directors and Teachers and strengthen relationships.
- Manage a caseload, which includes meeting monthly with each student on the Free To Shine Program, her parents, teachers, and School Director, and write case notes on each meeting.
- Collect and record data related to student’s education and attendance.
- Complete progress reports on each student once per year.
- Conduct Community Discussions within target communes once per month.
- Manage the financial aspects of students in the program.
- Participate in Project Sub-Groups.
- Identify and Report Child Protection concerns.
- Deliver resources to girls and their families.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Program Officer and Program Manager.
- 2 years working in an NGO, and / or a Bachelor Degree or currently studying at university.
- Fluent in English and Khmer (written and spoken).
- High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information.
- Excellent time management and be able to plan and prioritise own work.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Accurate report writing.
- Willingness to travel long distances on motorbikes, on difficult roads, several times a week.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Commitment to work to the highest standards.
