REPORT TO : Operations Manager (OM)
SUPERVISE : English teachers and other education teachers of SLC Program
HOURS OF WORK : 8.00 am–5.00 pm Monday to Friday
- PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
- Take part in designing annual implementation and budget plan for the Sunrise Learning Centre of Sunrise Cambodia.
- Work with Operations Manager and management team to develop a strategic plan for education programs under supervision and other work plans as requested by line manager
- Design newsletter, produce IEC materials, and conduct awareness raising to community
- COMMUNICATION, COORDINATION AND RELATIONSHIP
- Work closely with relevant teacher teams, management staff and Sunrise staff including, Social Workers Coordinator, Houseparent Coordinator, Assistant Operations Manager and Finance Manager of Sunrise Cambodia.
- Oversee and manage the Sunrise Learning Centre (SLC) Education Program such as English Programs, Sports, Dance and Public School Development and ensure that Sunrise Cambodia main curriculum and co-curriculum and extra-curriculum are well implemented
- Assists the Operations Manager in designing job requirements and specifications, managing staff recruitment, staff appraisal, development and capacity building; maintain uniform personnel policies for the organization and ensured that all program staff is informed and are adhesive to these policies and procedures
- Prepare an agenda, run team meetings on a regular basis, take minutes and share with relevant staff for all team meetings.
- Liaise with district and provincial education office for public school development but not limited to facility improvement and teacher capacity development.
- Work closely with public schools to ensure that children supported by Sunrise Cambodia receive quality education.
- Liaise with government training schools and other vocational training centers to provide vocational education training to beneficiaries of Sunrise Cambodia.
- Represent Sunrise Cambodia by attending relevant government and non-government meetings approved by the manager, and report back to staff at the team meeting.
- Liaise with relevant Government Ministries in regards to the obligations of the NGO including the timely preparation of the quarterly reports.
- Assist the OM in managing and maintaining good coordination, integration/synergy, communication and relationships with program staffs, Department of Education, Youth and Sports and provincial governmental line departments as partners, competent authorities at sub-national level (provincial, district, commune), NGOs and networks;
- Perform best as contact person of Sunrise Cambodia with Department of Education, Youth and Sports and provincial governmental line departments as partners, competent authorities at sub- national level (provincial, district, commune), NGOs and networks;
- Share knowledge and develop teaching techniques to improve achievement.
- Help the teachers by sharing instructional resources such as Web sites, teaching materials, readings, or other resources to use with students.
- Work with members to organize a Teacher-Parent Meeting and Outstanding Students Award Ceremony on a regular basis and provide a report to Operations Manager and Assistant Operation Manager.
- Work with team members to arrange meeting with students on a regular basis
- Work closely with education members to organize both internal and external Sunrise Cambodia events
- Work with teaching team to conduct awareness raising to remoted communities near Sunrise Centre. Children in poor families can access SLC programs.
- Team work: Be able to understand own-self, to appreciate difference and to build teamwork and focus all team members on visibly contributing to achieving team goals and team harmony.
- Attend relevant meetings, workshops and conferences.
- MANAGEMENT, MONITORING AND EVALUATION
- Provide regular feedback to the Operations Manager, and management team about the implementation of the programs under supervision.
- Daily monitor class activities and quality of teaching delivered by teachers.
- Prepare teaching schedule and ensure smoothly classes delivered by teachers to in line with teaching schedule at public school.
- Be responsible to run classes at per agreed schedule.
- Prepare Monthly Attendance List for Sunrise Learning Center Teachers and staff
- Organize a monthly or a quarterly meeting with principals of Public School Partners
- Work with Residential Care Social Worker and Community Social Worker to follow up regular absentees of Sunrise students and report to the Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager.
- Follow up regular absentees for each class and take action.
- Prepare agenda, run team meeting on a regular basis, take minutes and share with relevant staff for all team meeting.
- Communicate feedback on the work of volunteers allocated to their team.
- Reporting:
- Report the progress and challenges of the team to Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager and Country Director.
- Provide quality quarterly progress reports to Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, and other relevant department if requested
- Provide monthly reports to Operations Manager, including monthly statistics of students, activities completed, visitor details, and facility conditions of Sunrise Learning Center Report
- Attend supervision with Operations Manager and/or administration relating to relevant matters.
- OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- To proactively participate in the Staff Performance Appraisal process including the annual appraisal, midyear review and regular 1:1 meetings, ensuring that the Performance Appraisal process (including the paperwork) is an integral component of Annual Work Plans and activities;
- Promote a safe and secure work environment; foster a culture of safety and security awareness and consistently follow all Sunrise Cambodia safety and security policies, procedures and directives;
- Uphold and promote Sunrise Cambodia’s commitment to Child Protection and the Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment Policy
- Ensure children at all times are protected from physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and report any mistreatment or abuse of children.
- Act at all times in a professional and ethical manner, with appropriate role modeling for all children.
- Comply with Sunrise Cambodia’s Financial, Personnel and Operational requirements, foster strong communication between operations and programs teams and uphold high standards of honesty and integrity in personal conduct.
- Ensure that the Sunrise Cambodia code of conduct is followed by staff at all times.
- Respect child rights, privacy and confidentiality at all times, by involving children in case planning, ensuring that their privacy is protected, and not disclosing sensitive or private information to other children, or other agencies, without permission by the child, with consideration of the child’s development, and other safety issues.
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of children by not disclosing any private information to others such as serious health problems, or other personal child information.
- Immediately report any serious incidents or other problems, including accidents, illness, injuries, abnormal sexual activity or abuse, fighting, or damaged or broken property.
- Follow other duties as reasonably required by management.
- English - Fluent
- Bachelor's Degree in ducation and other relevant fields
- Relevant management work experience in education project for 3 years as a minimum
- Relevant experience working for non-government organizations
- Ability to think strategically, conceptualize new ideas, digest and analyze complex information and present a coherent work plan or implementation plan
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to liaison with local schools
- Strong presentation, problem solving, communication and facilitation skills, including an ability to build relationships and capacity with national and local partners
- Possess professional attitude and diligence and able to work independently as well as work in a team
- Passion, empathy, sensitivity, patience and a good understanding of children and their needs
- Respect for all with no bias or discrimination, including those based on gender, race, ability or religion.
