Sunrise Cambodia is a world-class charity working on the ground in Cambodia to give much-needed help to at-risk kids, struggling families and poor communities in some of the most poverty-stricken provinces of the country.

Sunrise Cambodia began in the early 1993s when a South Australian fifty-year old named Geraldine Cox began a small orphanage to care for the some of the orphaned grandchildren from Pol Pot’s regime. Unable to have her own children, Geraldine became “Mum to Many” as she took in street kids, orphans and the disabled to give them good food, a place to sleep, an education and lots of love.

Position Summary

Must be over 25 years old.

Report to : HR and Admin Officer

Work hour: Variable.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Your major responsibilities will be varied and will include:
  • Ensure that all road rules are followed, with no speeding or dangerous driving at any time.
  • Ensure that seat belts are worn at all times while driving, and passengers are also wearing seat belts
  • Always ensure that you have two hands on the driving wheel of vehicles at all times
  • Never use mobile phones while driving, including texting
  • Ensure that the SCV driver uniform is worn at all times while driving
  • When driving children, there must be at least one other staff also present, in the vehicle, and whenever a female child is in the vehicle, a female staff member is required to be present, at all times.
  • Ensure that the driver mileage sheets are updated daily and that all mileage information is accurately recorded.
  • Undertake a basic vehicle maintenance check on a weekly basis, to check: tires (air and tread); oil and other fluid levels; check water levels in radiator; check for any leakages from pipes or other leaks. Maintain appropriate air levels in the tires and ensure all windscreens are clean.
  • Ensure children at all times are protected from physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and report any mistreatment or abuse of children
  • Ensure that the Sunrise Children’s Village code of conduct is followed at all times.
  • Act at all times in a professional and ethical manner, with appropriate role modeling for all children.
  • Follow other duties as reasonably directed by Management
Expected Profile of Candidates
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
Work History:
  • At least experience in driving, prefer NGO’s car for 2 years
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Holding the valid bus driving license,
  • Strong commitment to protecting children from physical and sexual abuse.
  • Ability to communicate and understand basic information in English
  • Ability to read and understand road signs and Cambodian Traffic Law
  • Knowledge of car mechanics and maintenance
  • Excellent knowledge of road systems in Cambodia, especially around Phnom Penh and Kandal
Soft Skills
  • Must have flexible about working hours and available to drive at short notice
  • Excellent communication skills with children and young adults.
  • Candidate living in Takhmoa is proffered
