Democratic Citizenship Education for Youth (DCEY) Project Officer
This position is expected to start as soon as possible.
The position is reporting to: Program Manager - Empowering Youth for an Equitable Society.
- Work with program and/or project staff and the head of the program to develop activity and budget plans
- Work with project staff and the head of the program to develop and review training curriculums, templates, and other activities
- Organize and facilitate training/workshops and the field practice of trained youth in democratic governance, and active citizenship course
- Facilitate exposure trips for youth to impacted communities
- Mobilize youth to attend the training/workshops and other activities of the project
- Cooperate with M&E staff to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the project activities
- Develop the content and facilitate online and radio talk shows
- Write training/activity reports in English.
- BA in a related field such as Human Rights, Law, International Relations, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, and Environment
- At least two-year experience working with NGOs as a full-time staff or volunteer
- Good teamwork and highly motivated to work directly with university youth
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Willingness to question and change one's own ideas and habits
- Good at interpersonal skills: Communication, problem-solving, facilitation, time and task management with high morale, and good characteristics
- Good at writing and speaking both English and Khmer.; and
- Be available to work on weekends due to the nature of the work; compensatory rest days will be provided during weekdays.
Youth Engagement in Policy Influence (YEPI) Project Officer
This position is expected to start as soon as possible.
The position is reporting to: Program Manager - Youth Engagement in Social Action.
The Project Officer will be responsible for implementing youth engagement activities focused on policy influence, particularly in the areas of Extractive Industries (EI) governance and Climate Justice (CJ). The main responsibilities include:
- Conduct trainings for youth on advocacy and influencing, policy analysis related to EI governance and CJ;
- Organize multi-stakeholder dialogue on EI governance and CJ policies;
- Organize campaign on EI governance;
- Organize 4Rs campaign (Reuse, Refuse, Reduce and Recycle);
- Exposure youth to mining sites related to EI and environmental destruction;
- Provide technical support to youth groups on their advocacy activities on policy enforcement related to EI governance and CJ;
- Engage in activities of relevant networks; and
- BA in any discipline of Environment, Laws, Community Development, Rural Development, mining, Economics, Human Rights and other relevant subjects;
- At least three years of work experience in relevant field as mentioned above;
- Had experience managing project funded by Europe Union
- Proven experience in coordinating networks and/or mobilizing youth for environmental sustainability and governance;
- At least three years of experiences in project management, lobbying, advocacy;
- Excellence communication both Khmer and English;
- Advanced computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic knowledge of database is a plus);
- Be proactive, able to work well in a team and highly committed to working directly with youth from different backgrounds;
- Good at interpersonal skills: leadership, problem-solving, facilitation skills, public speaking, time and task management with high morale, and good characteristics;
- Be available to work on weekends due to the nature of the work; compensatory rest days will be provided during weekdays;
- Ability to work independently; and
- Able to travel and stay overnight at the remote communities.
