FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Helen Keller Intl is seeking a data collector/research facilitator with experience in conducting mixed-methods research, with a specific focus on qualitative participatory action research. The data collector will report directly to the project’s Gender Research Lead, and collaborate with M&E, programs and operations teams.
Ideal candidates should have excellent communication (oral and written) skills in Khmer, understand and speak English, and have excellent qualitative data collection skills. Based in Kampong Thom Province the data collector will require frequent trips to the study sites

- Assist the research team in developing a detailed data collection schedule/work plans
- Collect data according to the approved study protocol’s procedures and schedule.
- Maintain the quality of the collected data throughout the study by adhering to the approved study protocol, ethical and methodological standards.
- Submit collected data promptly and securely to the gender research lead, and according to the approved study protocol.
- Maintain all research equipment and materials in good condition.
- Maintain confidentiality of all collected data according to the approved study protocol.
- Assist the gender specialist, research lead, and M&E team in developing data entry forms, as required.
- Assist with data transcription, translation and coding, as required.
- Enter data into a database alongside the gender research specialist and M&E team, as required.
- Participate in meetings with the research team to discuss progress, address any challenges, and make any revisions needed to the project work plan.
- Liaise with local authorities and stakeholders as requested by the research leads
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships and open lines of communication with other Helen Keller Intl team members.
- Relevant qualifications in research, gender studies, sociology, public health, nutrition, development studies, or a related field. Technical knowledge of nutrition and public health programs preferred.
- At least two years of qualitative research experience in rural Cambodia. Experience with participatory research methods preferred (focus group discussion, creative elicitation techniques, Photo Voice etc.).
- Fluency in Khmer (oral and written) and working proficiency in English (oral and written).
- Deep understanding of the Cambodian context, including cultural sensitivity and community engagement practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially working with diverse stakeholders, and community members with study participants and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness and ability to travel and work in rural and remote provinces/areas.
