Announcement Description

Background and Organizational Context

Khmer Community Development (KCD) is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-religious, and independent local organization registered in 2005 with the Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Cambodia. KCD envisions a peaceful, inclusive, and multicultural society where the rights and needs of all people regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, ability, or social status are recognized and respected, in line with principles of social justice, inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

Project Overview

Project Title: Strengthening Collaboration of Communities and Access to Education in Five Villages in Kampong Chhnang Province

Project Period: 1 April 2022 – 31 March 2024 (extended until December 2024)

Donor: Quaker Service Australia (QSA)

Project Goal

To contribute to reduced conflict and strengthened collaboration among ethnically diverse communities in Kampong Chhnang Province, Cambodia.

Nature of the Project

KCD implemented the project “Strengthening the Collaboration of Communities and Access to Education in Five Villages in Kampong Chhnang Province” from 2022 to 2024 to promote inclusive education and strengthen cooperation between communities, particularly to support Ethnic Vietnamese children in accessing education.

During the project implementation, a reflection meeting conducted after two years helped KCD identify progress and guide further actions. The review showed positive changes in the target villages. Children became more interested in studying, especially Vietnamese children who were motivated to learn the Khmer language. Parents also became more involved in supporting their children’s education with encouragement from local authorities. In addition, students gained greater awareness of discrimination and children’s rights, and relationships between Khmer and Vietnamese children in schools improved.
