Announcement Description

Funded by the European Commission, the STRIVE project is a four-year action aiming to enhance the resilience and livelihoods of 7,280 smallholder farmers—primarily indigenous women—in Ratanakiri and Stung Treng, Cambodia. Implemented by Johanniter International Assistance (JIA) in partnership with Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) and Bandos Komar (BK), the action promotes climate-smart agriculture, gender equity, and environmentally sustainable practices.

Cashew farming is a major livelihood in these provinces, but current practices face challenges from climate change, biodiversity loss, and unsustainable land use. There is a need to integrate agro‑forestry systems, environmental protection measures, and climate change adaptation strategies into cashew production to ensure long-term sustainability and resilience.

This assessment will provide evidence-based recommendations for climate‑smart agro‑forestry models, identify suitable intercrops, and propose environmental and biodiversity conservation measures. The findings will inform updates to the project’s climate‑resilient practice and product safety curriculum/training manual and guide the development of IEC materials for awareness‑raising.
