Announcement Description

The WWT is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. For over a decade we have worked in Cambodia to conserve and restore key wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.

Recognizing the need for effective wetland biodiversity knowledge at the grassroots level, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) has initiated an capacity building support, aimed at enhancing capacity building on integrate wetland biodiversity conservation into their work and daily life within local authorities and community in both AP and BPL sites. This is supported by L’OCCITANE Foundation, a donor committed to fostering community empowerment in leading sustainable development and conservation.

This initiative seeks to enhance the ability of local authorities, community-based organizations, teachers, field staffs and relevant stakeholders to integrate wetland biodiversity conservation into their work and daily decision-making. Central to this effort is the introduction of the “Do No Harm to Biodiversity” principle, which equips stakeholders with the skills to avoid or mitigate negative impacts from development and livelihood activities, while promoting conservation-compatible economic practices such as Wildlife Conservation Incentive schemes and Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES).

Overall objective: To strengthen the capacity of local authorities, community organizations, and field practitioners in Anlung Pring and Boeung Prek Lpov Protected Landscapes to effectively integrate biodiversity conservation—specifically the “Do No Harm” principle and conservation economic mechanisms into local planning, resource management, and livelihood development, thereby ensuring sustainable benefits for both ecosystems and communities.
