The Communications Officer develops and implements communications programs that are specific to the operations and local context and advises the General Manager in the field of communication.
MAIN WORKPLACE: Phnom Penh with monthly trips to the Plantation in Bousra – Mondulkiri Province
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implementing the Socfin Group’s communications strategy, guidelines and objectives in Cambodia
- Following-up on Group requests for communications support (answers to journalist, proactive communication on local activities and achievements etc.)
- Developing, implementing and overseeing the communication policies, regulations and procedures to facilitate the effective transmission of information at the local, national, and Socfin Group levels.
- Meeting regularly with and following-up the local communication agency activities (social networks management, content creation, public relations, design, field trips to the plantation)
- Piloting internal communications activities
- Developing communications material (reports, presentations etc.)
- Coordinating the production of the company’s annual sustainability report.
- Identifying communication opportunities and collaborate with the Sustainability Team on social, environmental, agronomic, and industrial initiatives.
- Preparing communications reporting (locally and with the Socfin Group) and following-up on KPIs.
- Conducting regular field visits across all plantation sites to align communication strategies with operational needs, engage communities, and manage crises or misinformation effectively.
- Reviewing and managing the Communications budget, including negotiating cost-effective externalized service contracts
- Reporting directly to the General Manager and to the Head of Communication & Public Relations of Socfin Group to define communication priorities and strategies.
- Executing other relevant tasks related to the area of work as requested.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
- Khmer - Fluent
- English - Fluent
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in mass communication from a recognized university or higher institution of learning
- Master's Degree in mass communication is preferred
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
- The ideal candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience working as a media personnel in a recognized media institution or company, or as a communications manager. Such an experience in the agricultural/environmental sector in Cambodia is a plus.
- SKILLS: Excellent written and spoken English and Khmer proficiency
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to adapt and implement a structured communication strategy to engage all stakeholders effectively.
