Position Summary

Department: Communications

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week (7.30am – 11.30am to 1.00pm – 5.00pm)

Role Overview

The Communications Copywriter plays a critical quality control and copywriting role within the Communications Department. As REACH's English language filter, this person is responsible for reviewing and approving all written communications before they are sent or published, ensuring accuracy, tone, and consistency across every piece of copy that leaves the organisation. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Copywriter also leads on campaign copywriting, supports the execution of REACH's major fundraising campaigns, and shares the writing load across the department so that the Communications Manager can focus on strategy and partnerships. This role is best suited to someone who writes with confidence and precision in English, has a sharp editorial eye, and understands the craft of fundraising communication.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support the Communications Manager and team to strengthen the quality and consistency of fundraising communications
  • Execution of major campaigns through the year.
  • Execution of major campaign content across all platforms.
  • Review and quality-assure fundraising and communications materials (campaign copy, donor communications, social media content, etc.) for language accuracy, tone, and messaging consistency prior to publication or distribution.
  • Support in-country and international fundraising events.
  • Support the team in developing copy for individual and corporate fundraising communications
  • Create content supporting campaign execution, including internal thank you videos for donors and supporters.
  • Review and edit all outgoing team emails, campaign copy, and donor communications for English accuracy, tone, and consistency before distribution
  • Draft and maintain a library of campaign email templates, thank you copy, and donor communication frameworks for the team to use
  • Work closely with the Communications Manager to document and improve writing and communications processes across the department
  • Support SEO and website content improvements, including reviewing and refreshing existing web copy and blog content
  • Utilise AI tools (including Claude) to develop, refine, and maintain copy templates and assist the team in producing high-quality written content efficiently
  • Train and coach team members on the use of AI writing tools and established copy templates to lift the quality of communications across the department
  • Support donor personalisation from behind the scenes via Salesforce, including segmentation, tailored messaging, and communication workflows
  • Represent REACH professionally in all interactions with partners, donors, and volunteers
  • Write content for website such as blogposts and team profiles.
  • Support with administrative tasks within the communications department.
  • Report to the Communications Manager in regular department meetings.

Expected Profile of Candidates
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing/communications
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Excellent English skill: IELTS Score 7.5+ or a TOEFL Score 95 or above
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills; with the ability to tell a story in a clear, engaging and persuasive way. Past samples will be requested
  • Experience with or willingness to learn AI writing tools
  • Excellent computer literacy skills.
  • A clear understanding of child protection and local laws.
  • Experience working within an NGO.
  • Comfortable working with Salesforce or equivalent CRM for donor communication personalisation
  • Experience using OneDrive, Asana and/or other task management systems
  • Familiarity with CRM or donor management systems (e.g. Salesforce, Raisely).
