HelpAge Cambodia (HAC), a local non-governmental organization, is dedicated to enabling older people to lead lives their dignified, active, healthy, and secured live. HAC provides support to older individuals and their families in provinces of Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, Preah Vihea, Kompong Thom, Tbong Khmom, Prey Veng, Svay Reang, and Phnom Penh. This support comes in the form of community-based services offered by the Older People’s Association (OPA), which ensures safety, and security, and empowers older individuals through sustainable rural development activities.

HAC has been executing two projects with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) via HelpAge Deutschland. One of these projects, named “Securing and Diversifying the Income of Older Cambodians through an Age-inclusive Social Enterprise and Age-responsive Business Training”, also known as the Social Enterprise project, aims to enhance income security and recognition for older individuals.

In 2023, HAC took over a Social Enterprise (SE) in Battambang, known as Laey Baitong (Laey Baitong Co., Ltd.). This SE functions as an agri-food value chain shop, providing a market solution, helping the livelihood of farmers, and promoting healthy foods.

Position Summary

Reporting to: Communication and Advocacy Team Leader

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8:00-12:00 and 1:30-5:30)

Start Date: November 2024

Duration: Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The main purpose of this position or Junior Communication and Media Officer is to assist Communication and Advocacy Team Leader (CATL) and General Manager (GM) on specifically social media and general digital and physical communication works following the project and program of HelpAge Cambodia.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Assist in communication efforts with the Older People Association (OPA), Cambodian Ageing Network (CAN), and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and information dissemination
  • Assist in organizing training sessions, workshops, study research, and Age Demands Action (ADA) campaign activities at both national and sub-national levels
  • Prepare case studies and gather the voices of older people in the communities for the project
  • Regularly update and maintain HAC’s social media channels, including Facebook, YouTube, website, and other channels to ensure consistent and engaging content.
  • Update and manage online marketing efforts for products made by older people, enhancing their visibility and sales
  • Prepare detailed activity plans and tracking records of media and publications
  • Assist CATL in coordination with national and sub-national media broadcasting
  • Assist other works assigned by CATL (including budget monitoring and other financial related works)
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Bachelor degree in IT and other relevant fields
  • Experiences in fields of communication and advocacy works is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in organizing and/or facilitating workshop or meeting
  • Strong skills in video production, social media management, and online marketing
  • Understanding of community development, ageing, gender, social protection and Commune Investment Program
  • Good knowledge on using computer software, i.e. Microsoft Office, graphic design, live streaming, website, and phone applications
  • Good at communicating both English and Khmer
  • Able to work across province and/or stay overnight when required
