Kroursar Yoeung Association (KrY) is a local non-governmental organization with no religious or political ties and was established in 2002 with the Ministry of Interior to promote health conditions, cognition, and development of children, strengthen childcare and parenting, improve and empower families through different development programs.

In partnership of Kimchan Foundation in Germany, KrY is currently implementing and operating the community/state pre-schools in Siem Reap, Ratanak Kiri, Tbong Khmom and Kratie Province. It will be scaled up to other remote and rural areas across the country in the future. Now we are hiring:

Coach

Position Circumstances

Position Summary

This Coach’s main responsibility is to ensure the achievement of technical upgraded objectives which is targeted as 80% of the five-year-old class graduates are able to recognize 80% of Khmer’s consonants (27 characters) and 70% of Khmer’s vowels (16 characters).

Coach is a service-based position supervised by the senior coach and it will be responsible for building capacity of teachers through regular coaching services plus some monitoring and report tasks.

It is a consultancy-based position and the location of his/her residing is regarded as office.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Major Responsibilities
  • Work with the senior coach to develop the coaching plan and other capacity development plans such technical meetings, class demonstration, instructional materials development…etc.
  • Prepare budget plan for field travels, food, and other related expenses of instructional materials development.
  • Participate in weekly meeting with senior coach.
  • Participate in relevant capacity building activities such as meetings, trainings, workshops, and study visits…etc provided by KrY, government, and/ other stakeholders.
  • Participate in monthly coaching forum to update the teacher’s coaching service with senior coach, ECE and M&E coordinators, management team.
  • Coaching and Feedback
  • Strictly implement the coaching guideline
  • Observe the class activities, especially during the Khmer language subject (Learning and teaching as well as related personal hygienic activities; toothbrushing and hand- washing…etc.)
  • Observe the learning and instructional materials (Teaching/session plan, teaching materials, and administrative documents or ledgers)
  • Observe the class decoration (If it is made according to the standard)
  • Conduct class demonstration when necessary.
  • Interactive discussion to explore further gaps and challenges
  • Providing feedbacks, suggesting possible solutions, and recommendations for further improvement.
  • Provide training and material support to help teachers achieve their improvement according to the feedback/recommendations.
  • Encourage school directors to participate in coaching/feedback session at least once a month.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
  • Prepare the coaching report of each teacher under her/his supervision to the senior on regular basis (Follow to the coaching guideline)
  • Ensure that additional Khmer’s teaching hours mainstreamed into other subjects to reach at least 8 learning hours per week (Ref. Coaching guideline)
  • Assist the teachers to regularly administer and report the school readiness test and HCC’s literacy test for the five-year-old classes.
  • Engage in appraising the performance of the teachers
  • Work with school directors and teachers to ensure daily class operation will start from 7:00 to 11:00am and from 1:00 to 5:00pm for the afternoon shift.
  • Collaborative Support with project officer
  • Promptly share related concerned issues with the respective project officer in terms of school attendance, breakfast/snack and milk management, practice of hygienic activities, and situation of facilities as well as the playgrounds.
  • Participate in problem-solving related to children and teachers’ issues (Ex. Low attendance, absence of teacher, maternity leaves, and recruitment of substitute teachers)
  • Other tasks may be requested to perform by the senior coach when needed.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
Work History:
  • With at least teaching experience for the state, community, and private pre-schools for 2 years
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • At least completion of secondary education (Grade 12).
  • Be trained for at least 15 days on pre-school pedagogy by governments, NGOs, and other institutions.
  • Own smart phone and be able to use some communicable social media applications such Facebook, Chat Messenger, and Telegram…etc.
  • Own a motorbike and be able to drive it.
Soft Skills
  • Sound an interest in working in the rural communities and love children.
  • Sound of good interpersonal and communication skills.
 
 

Project Officer

Position Summary

The Project Officer’s main responsibility to ensure that the HCC’s kindergarten sustainable goal is achieved in accordance with HCC Road Map.

The position will handle for all related administration and logistic support, maintaining physical facilities, level of good hygiene, and good school management through mobilizing the community for co-funding of school breakfast, co-financing of building infrastructure of school management, cook, and commune councils, monitoring of school attendance, breakfast and milk management of HCC’s kindergarten.

The position will be based at any of zone’s office and it is required to travel frequently to the target kindergartens to ensure that all related supportive school operation is functioned and responsive.

The project officer is under direct supervision by the Co-funding Coordinator of the Happy Cambodian Children (HCC) project. The project officers will work closely with the project manager, M&E coordinator, technical coordinators, admin and finance officer, and other project staff to support the project implementation to reach the HCC goal.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Physical facility development and maintenance
  • Work with school management to ensure the kindergarten landscape and playground are developed in the child-friendly environment and well-maintained.
  • Assist the school management and teachers to initiate the kindergarten development plan to integrate into the school development plan
  • Support and train the school management, teachers, and care- taker to manage and maintain facilities and materials in a proper way.
  • Good Hygiene
  • Monitor the practices of hygienic activities (hand-washing and toothbrushing)
  • Ensure adequate supplies such as hand-washing liquid, toothbrushes and toothpastes, and other cleaning materials
  • Ensure access of safe and clean drinking water plus water for other consumption
  • Train school management and teachers related to good hygiene
  • School Attendance management
  • Monitor school attendance with kindergarten teacher.
  • Collect long absent kids from coach, solving the issued and report to co-funding coordinator.
  • Works with co-funding coordinator to coordinate the problem-solving to improve attendance issue.
  • Breakfast/Snack Management
  • Monitor the management of breakfast and milk.
  • Works with Co-funding coordinator, School director, Kindergarten teachers, SMC, Parent/guardian for collect co-funding for school breakfast and milk.
  • Collect school breakfast expense report for the co-funding coordinator/PM.
  • Community
  • Detect irregularity, malpractice, and corruption related to breakfast expenses in accordance with operational guideline.
  • Train cooks on breakfast preparation and management
  • Mobilization
  • Participate in commune investment planning (CIP) to ensure that the respective communes allocate the budget to support the cook’s renumeration.
  • Assist the school to mobilize the resources to co-finance with HCC’s program according to the road map.
  • Administration, Logistic, and Networking
  • Provide liaison or coordination support when there is a school visit
  • Collect relevant information of schools, communities, target groups, and key stakeholders for the co-funding coordinator and project manager.
  • Manage to send-off, drop, and collect and circulate all administrative letters and documents to the concerned governments and within KrY.
  • Ensure all provided materials are delivered to the kindergartens in timely, well-managed and maintained.
  • Assist the co-funding coordinator/project manager to propose the budget, procure, and settle the expenses for related administrative, office and other operational expenses.
  • Participate in bi-weekly meetings with co-funding coordinator /project manager and other project officers
  • Assist the co-funding coordinator to participate in network meetings with key stakeholders when assigned or nominated.
  • Other tasks may be asked to perform additionally when needed.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in or equivalence preferably in the field of Education, Rural Development, Social Work, Project Management, and/ Administration…etc.
Work History:
  • Working experience with NGOs or governments in social development, child protection, education and related health or nutrition issues…etc for 3 years
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, monitor, and report of the activities
  • Sound of ability in using the MS Offices (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Sound of ability in using internet, e-mail, and other social media outline.
  • Sound of ability in English communication in both writing and speak and able to use the internet and email and other social media
Soft Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with government and social partners at local level.
  • Be interested in working and traveling in the rural communities
