Bioinformatics Research Engineer

As Bioinformatics Research Engineer you will employ Bioinformatics and other IT tools and methods to the analysis of biological sequences, with applications to scientific research on infection diseases. You will be part of the Unit for Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence Application (BAIA), a small and dynamic team founded about 1 year ago, with the mission of becoming a national and international reference center dedicated to Bioinformatics and to the applications of AI to scientific research.
Recruitment conditions:

- Remote Work: Possibility to work remotely, subject to job role and management approval
- Analysis of scientific data
- Use of software tools and libraries for the quantitative and statistical analysis of scientific data, with particular focus on DNA and RNA sequence data obtained with Next Generation Sequencing methods
- Analysis of single cell RNA sequencing data using command line tools and pipelines implemented in R
- Interaction with biologists and other scientists for the development of analyses and correct interpretation of results
- Implementation of software tools and pipelines
- Development of open source tools and pipelines dedicated to Bioinformatics and other fields of scientific research
- Support role
- Collaboration to the continuous support provided by the BAIA unit to the other units of IPC (Bioinformatics, usage of Linux and High Performance Computing systems, AI)
- Aid in teaching and capacity building, such as participation as tutor and co-teacher in internal courses regularly organized by BAIA, as well as tutorials offered in other institutions (in Cambodia and abroad)
- Definition of Standard Operating Procedures for the operation of software tools in scientific research and the monitoring of infection diseases

- Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related field with a strong affinity for Biological sciences
- Master's Degree in Biology, Pharmacology, Bioengineering, Infectiology or related field with some knowledge of programming and a strong affinity for IT work, Recent graduates are welcome to apply
- At least basic knowledge of computer programming or scripting
- Knowledge or willingness to learn advanced use and programming of R
- Knowledge or willingness to learn advanced Python skills
- Previous experiences with Linux command line (Bash)
- Willingness to learn and expand knowledge in biology and bioinformatics
- Strong personal affinity to technical work, including programming and use of the command line

As Artificial Intelligence Engineer you will develop Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools and methods, which will be applied to the analysis of biological sequences, and quantitative and qualitative research on infection diseases. You will be part of the Unit for Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence Application (BAIA), a small and dynamic team founded about 1 year ago, with the mission of becoming a national and international reference center dedicated to Bioinformatics and to the applications of AI to scientific research.

- Operative knowledge of currently available LLMs systems.

- Previous experience in developing AI systems.
- Knowledge of good practices of software engineering.
- Good knowledge of Python.
- Ability to work and significant previous experience with Linux command line.
