Ministry of Environment (MoE) in collaboration with UNDP Cambodia is implementing a programme framework consisting two global initiatives; namely (1) National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan (NBSAP) Update and the 7th National Reports Project; and (2) Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) II project.
This Global Programme will support countries in revising and updating their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) in order to align with the recently agreed upon Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and enable effective implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework at the national level. In addition, this grant supports countries in preparing and submitting their 7th National Report on the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
BIOFIN is a global programme that develops, pilots and is continuedly improving a methodology to measure existing biodiversity expenditure, assess finance need, and develop plan for use finance tools and solution for biodiversity management in 40 countries. Cambodia has achieved a number of results during the BIOFIN first phase (2018-2022), namely Policy and Institutional Review (PIR), the Biodiversity Expenditure Review (BER), the Finance Needs Assessment (FNA), the Biodiversity Finance Plan (BFP), and the three Finance Solutions for the implementation of prioritized finance solutions. BIOFIN II will carry out a continuous assessment to update the reports of BER, FNA and implementing the project under the finance solutions.
