Expression of Interest by NGOs
Duties
- The scope of activities for the Expression of Interest includes the tasks listed below, but shall not be limited exclusively to these activities
- To work closely with the Project Management and Implementation Unit and implementing partners for guidance on project implementation, policies, M&E, regulatory and reporting framework
- To ensure that project activities are implemented in a participatory manner, with maximum transparency and in accordance with all relevant laws and policies
- To address cross-cutting issues of gender equity, disaster risk reduction, environmental protection, food and nutrition security and sustainability in all project activities
- Working closely with local government, to select and engage a number of Community Based Organisations in target areas with an initial coverage of at least 1,250 households per province
- To provide general organization and a team of trainers for the conduct of a programme of 50 Farmer Field Schools per province, with assistance from Master Trainers from Government Agencies who will provide training in both process and content. Subjects for Field Schools may include crop production, vegetables, post-harvest, food processing, household chicken production and fish raising in accordance with farmers’ needs
- Provide trainers to conduct an information and education campaign for improved family feeding practices including complementary feeding, in conjunction with Farmer Field Schools and other targeted training and demonstrations
- To assist in curriculum development and conduct of Farmer Business Schools (5 per province) for selected products and producer groups, in partnership with relevant government departments whilst ensuring high level private sector orientation and commercial practice
- Facilitate field demonstrations and input delivery including the use of revolving funds, voucher systems or other input delivery methods as deemed appropriate to the activity and target group
- Assist Government in the conduct of District Agricultural Fairs and field days with broad government, community, private sector and NGO involvement
Requirements
- Prior experience with FAO or other UN agencies and/or EU funded projects, and a sound record of achievement in Cambodia
- Active programs in the specified districts in Otdar Meanchey and Preah Vihear with a strong portfolio of activities
- Involved in agriculture as their primary activity, with preference for organisations that are also experienced in food based approaches to nutrition, simple food processing and disaster risk reduction or climate change adaptation
- Sound relationships with Provincial Governments, community based organisations and communities
- Technical and human resource capabilities for conduct of Farmer Field Schools and Farmer Business Schools, Disaster Risk Reduction and Nutrition activities
- Registered NGOs with approval to operate in Cambodia
- Sound financial management capabilities and record system and strong prospects of continuing activity in the target area status
- Gender equity policies in place and reflected in composition of the workforce
